Dear experts,
Pls explain me the difference between Internal activity , External activity & service activity.
What kind of different features are available on each of these activities, when we are doing procurement process involving these activities?? I mean material & service procurement.
Your advices are highly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Sam
Using internally processed activities you determine the amount of Work produced by machines or persons, and use this information in resource planning to plan the capacity requirement.
Using external processing you determine which services are required from other companies to carry out the project. The development of external processing occurs through purchasing.
Using External Services Management you plan unplanned and planned services for carrying out the project. The development of external services management occurs through purchasing.
Using general costs activity you plan primary costs, for example, travel costs.

Hi Sam,
If you use External activity, service entry sheet cannot be made and the payment will be processed through MIGO --> MIRO whereas if you use Service activity, service entry sheets can be created which will have user control. Hence, Service activity is preferred over external activity.
Thanks
Vinodh.

Control keys stipulate the type of activity and activity element
The difference between the two activity type is the control key , internal and external control key are interchangeable , If you change the control key for an externally processed activity, for which a purchase requisition has already been created, into an internally processed activity, the system deletes the purchase requisition.
In normal scenarios you procure by attaching a material to an internal activity and the other parameters would depend on the individiual collective indicator in the MRP4 view of the materia master .and the stratergy in the material master .
