Hi,

I would like to know what is the difference between the below 2 fields in the booked depn area and the usage.

1. Ordinary dep start date

2. Operating readiness

Will these 2 fields always have the same date or different ? Under what senario will the dates be different ?

Thanks.

Hi,

1. Ordinary dep start date:

Basically system automatically update this date from Asset First acqusation date fi user want to change he can able to change, use of this date is system calculate depreciation with referance to Ordinary Dep Start Date.

This date may be diffrent than Capitalization date.

Ex: Matchine purchased on 01-04-2011

But matchine operations start from 01-06-2011, in this case as per comp act business need to calculate dep from usage date Dep Start Date

2. Operating readiness:

This is used for reporting perpose only. some time this date may vary from ord dep date.

Hi,

Thanks for the detailed explanation.

Can I know under what circumstances will the perating readiness date be different from depn start date ?

Manually changed by user ? Or some other logic that system captures it ?

And where is this information used ?

Thanks.

There could be many scenarios.

You have purchased an asset - and started depreciating it.

But, you are yet to put to use may be due to non availability of expert to install the asset etc.

Hi

Ordinary depreciation start date is the date at which first acquisition of an asset is done which system treat as the depreciation start date.

Hi

The depreciation start date is stored as a calendar date (even in the case of non-calendar fiscal years). operting will be different date.
