Dear Jyothi

Delivery group The manual or automatic grouping of one or more items (main items and/or sub-items) in a sales order so that they can be delivered on the same date.

An item that is confirmed for several delivery dates can be confirmed for a single delivery date if it is assigned to a delivery group. This is the latest delivery date of all the confirmation schedule lines of this item.

All items that are assigned to the same delivery group are confirmed for a single delivery date. This is the latest delivery date of all these items.

If the sales order is marked in the header for complete delivery, then all items will be assigned to the same delivery group.

The delivery group settings you can find in the itemcategory detail screen

Go to VOV7 transaction then select itemcategory go in to the detail screen here you can find the field Create Delivery Group with options

X -Form delivery group with one delivery date

A -Delivery group with correlated schedule lines under Bill Of Material/Configuration tab

Delivey group will be used to deliver all the items of BOM at once through this setting you can control the partial deliveries for the BOM items.

Check this thread (mr.Murali's reply is very informative)

Hi Ramanathan Raja,

It is nice to search the forum and provide the relevant link. But, when you are providing the link....you need not copy-paste the same information AS IT IS. It will be good if you acknowledge Mr Murali for using his message. Being an active member of this forum, one should not violate the rules of engagement of this forum.

Thanks,

Ravi

Dear Ravishankar

First of all i have not copy pasted from Mr Murali's answer and i searched from SAP materials and had given that when that thread was thrown yesterday after noon

Later when i was searching something else i found this thread was relevant to the post and hence i gave the link yesterday evening

But Be it is Ravi or Raja standard is the same

I too have the same ethics that you have and the same concern for the development for this great forum and a big respect for the friends who actually contribute

Hope i have made things clear to you

Dear Friends (specially Ravi Sankar / R Raja & other experts),

Let us not agrue between us (who contribute to the forum). Infact I have always noticed that people who post queries in this forum, do it without checking the earlier posts.

Infact the basic rule of the forum is to check the existing threads & then post if not satisfied by them. But people post with checking exixting data in ths forum.

I sincerely respect the experts who are always post & are ready to post again on even a very simple thread which is already answered hundred of times (even I myself reply to these kind of queries).

The real issue is the people who post queries need to check the exixting threads fisrt & only then post. For most of my queries I first search the forum & 90% of times my problem is solved.

This are just my views...

Thanks,

Jignesh Mehta

Dear Mr.Jignesh

First of all, I should thank you and Mr.Ravi Sankar for taking the responsibility of leading the forum in a healthy manner.

Coming to the issue, basically I also strongly feel that one should not copy and paste others suggestion in the forum and it is totally unethical which should be avoided. It is as like stealing others property.

In fact, the creators of this forum has stipulated some rules and regulations such that severe action will be taken against the individuals if their thread contains

- Profanity

- Slander

- Spam etc.,

in which they have also included Private Information

As you all know Private Information is nothing but copying and pasting others suggestion in the forum ditto.

As long as the concerned individuals do not raise objection, well and good but once the individual refers to the respective Moderators, then the member who have stealed will have to face the consequences.

No doubt all of us are well knowledged and we should maintain decorum and self discipline and take the forum in a healthy manner.

Hope everybody will accept this view and avoid such malpractices.

thanks

Dear Mr.Lakshmipathi

I was deeply hurt and disturbed by the comments given by Mr.Ravishankar for which i have already reacted

Your subsequent post looks like that you are acknowledging his comments

Please be informed that i also have the same ethics and discipline and the concern for the real development of this forum that you all have

Having seen me almost daily for the past 6 months and in more than 1100 replies I think Mr.Ravishankar's and your subsequent comments are totally uncalled for

It has happened in the recent past also, for a single thread after me giving the solution say after 10 minutes you too have given exactly the same solution and none others have responded and the solution seems to be perfect

In that case can i claim that you have copy pasted mine? will you not get hurt if i do so?

Has it taken this much much time access me?

Somedays back there was a friend who just opened a thread where is Ramanathan Raja today?

If i take that as pride , what you two have done what should i take?

If at all your message is not meant for me if in general you should have posted a new thread

Again i repeat Standard is the same for all and in a generic qn nobody can claim this is my answer eventhough i haven't done that

I have provided solution in so many threads eventhough i havent got that error and i do a test make sure get that error and rectify it and then propose. This much of concern i have shown and once again it deeply hurts and Ravis comments and your's are totally uncalled for

Please make a rule in this forum so that no member doesnt or should not hurt other member's sentiments or feelings

This is badly reqd not only in this case

My apoligies to JYOTHI for deviatinfg from the topic

Dear Jignesh Mehta the arguement is not on who is contributing

Dear Ramanathan

I am sorry if my comments conveyed a wrong message. Honestly speaking, the intention of adding my comments above was to appreciate the efforts the two Gentlemen have taken and it doesnt mean that I have appreciated Mr.Ravi Sankar for pinpointing you.

Please be clear in this. In fact, right from day one since I joined this forum, it is my policy not to hurt anybody for whatsoever reason and if the above hurts your feeling, I apologise for that.

On your comments

It has happened in the recent past also, for a single
thread after me giving the solution say after 10 minutes
you too have given exactly the same solution and none
others have responded and the solution seems to be perfect
In that case can i claim that you have copy pasted mine?
will you not get hurt if i do so?

I think you have misconstrued the text "Copy and Paste". Do you mean to say that my suggestion in the thread what you were referring is same as what you have given - word by word ?? I can confidently say in none of my (it is more than 10000 suggestions) threads all these years, I have never ever encouraged this practice. In fact, this comments hurts me a l..o..t

Still if you are not convinced by what I mean, better we communicate each other through personal mail id and not through this forum.

thanks

Hi All,

Unfortunately the issue has been dragged and my intention of raising this issue has been side tracked. I always have great respect to Ramanathan Raja for spending his time and efforts to post replies in this forum. We need active members like him to keep the forum lively.

Raja, I am very sorry for hurting your feelings.

Responding to the other post.....as per my opinion, if we post material(copy-paste) from F1 help, SAP material or even from others' threads...we should specify the source and acknowledge that.

Different people explains the same thing in different style and hence if the answers are posted in their own style with explanation, one among the replies may clear the doubt of the person who raised the thread. Posting same material/same answers will not help them. This is my personal opinion.

Thanks,

Ravi

Hi Ramanathan Raja,

If you are really hurt with my comments...I am ready to apologise for that. Before doing that..I would like to know from which standard SAP material you have got the below lines..

My intention is not to hurt anybody, but not to encourage such activity. I am more of a learner from this forum than posting answers. I donot post more than 5-10 replies a day and sometimes not even one reply. I am active only in watching the threads and learning from the replies.

Your reply to my above question followed my apologies should close the discussion.

Thanks,

Ravi

Dear All,

Sorry, to jumping in between, but i think, there are few points, that need to be care for:

1. All of us, at some point of time, take references (either from SDN, itself, or from other sources), in order to respond to user-query.

2. Sometimes, user-query is so common (that has been answered so many times), Contributors just Refer/ write their own pre-given solution or the reference-link.

3. If, someone as cotributor, providing some reference-link or some part of solution from other source, I don't see any harm in that.

Even, i have figured out that users also copy questions (or make some modifications) and paste it in to the forum

(Mr. Lakshmipathi, have you remember one such incident where one user posted 8-10 questions, which were copied from some site: geekinterview)

The crux is, if some contributor (in some cases, and not in every case), provide such information, which is being given by some other contributor in past, it must ignore it, some extent.

Important: But, it must not like - Writing the crux of all the earlier posts which have been given by other contributors, in response to user query, as own's post (like one of the Contributor, Mr. Manoj Mahajan, which has been reported by Lakshmipathi, Me and others, to Moderators.)

Finally, Every Member in this forum, owns some Credibility, with himself. If, there are one or two instances, we must not hurt him.

Even me, most of the time, write a few lines in response and provide Reference-links, for further Knowledge, to user.

But, if there is something challenging in User-Query, I put my Best Foot forward, to resolve the query, my own.[See|]

I feel, this is the same case, with everyone of us.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Amit

Dear Mr.Ravi shankar

Respected Sir

Really what happened is, I usually make a note of the materials that i read in the forum mainly generic topics and has made a file for my understanding and for future references in my system and from that only i pasted the first post about delivery group that was yesterday afternoon

This i have the habit of doing for many general definitions which i am learning for the first time

After that i made some search for something else and i got the thread which i found apt for this query so did that in the evening with right intention

Till the time you posted last thread ( that i am ready to apologize) then only i realized that i have made my materials from Mr.Murali's post only.(a few months or weeks back) since the topic was a general thing i did not read it when i was answering it now

Many such generic definitions are there with me given by many friends in this SDN forum

since it is generic for my understanding knowledge i have them in my system

Now i realize my mistake and make sure that it doesnt get repeated

Why i made the statement of that i have posted 1100 posts to tell you in all these posts how much you have found copy paste others suggestions? If you really analyze my posts you will know it is almost negligible or may be a very few general definitions may be there (copy paste things) and those will be definitions only. This mistake has happened unintentionally (Out of the enthusiasm to give the answer)

I unnecessarily dragged Mr.Lakshmipathi in to this and my apologies to him

I would still like to emphasize that i have the same ethics and discipline that you have sir

Raja

Dear Jyothi,

My sincere request to you and all other members of the forum

First you search in the forum for your requirement if you not found suitable answer for your requirement then post the new thread.

Come to your requirement, this has been posted and given response already, same thing Iam placing here

Delivery group

The manual or automatic grouping of one or more items (main items and/or sub-items) in a sales order so that they can be delivered on the same date.

Delivery Group Correlation in BoMs

Use

If you want to combine a number of items in a sales document so that they are delivered together, you can create a delivery group.

If an item has more than one schedule line with confirmed quantities (for example, after an availability check) the system copies the date of the latest schedule line for this item and displays it on the delivery group overview screen.

When forming delivery groups, the system deletes the earlier schedule lines and copies their confirmed quantities into the latest schedule line.

If a complete delivery has not been requested, as soon as all the items for the bill of material are available, the system generates a correlated schedule line. This allows you to make a partial delivery on the first date on which all the items in the bill of material become available.

In other words, the first day on which all items in the bill of material are available, the system issues a confirmed quantity.

For example if you take Computer as header item and monitor ,key board,CPU,mouse are the sub items.

When you create sales order for the header material Computer system will check the availability for the sub items based on the availability system will conform the items.

In this situation only monitor ,CPU are available so system conformed the delivery, you can do the delivery but mouse and key boards are not available at present ,system conformed with later date so you need to deliver these later. But customer want all at single delivery in this scenerio you can use delivery group to avoid partial deliveries.

I hope this will help you,

Regards,

Murali.

Dear Jyoti,

In VA02: Sales Order Overview --> Tab: Shipping

Here next to "Material" field, you can find "Delivery Group".

To create a delivery group in a sales document, proceed as follows:

Choose the Shipping tab page from the overview screen.

For each of the items that you want to combine into a delivery group, enter the same number in the Delivery group field.

For example, if you want to combine three items into a delivery group, you enter 1 in the Delivery group field for each item. You can create additional delivery groups by using different numbers.

Choose Enter or Save to save your data.

The delivery groups are created. The system creates the schedule line date for each delivery group and copies it to the sales document.

Don't forget to check "Complete Delivery" Indicator.

Moreover, In Customizing for item categories, you can control that the system should generate correlated schedule lines for the delivery group. You can do this by selecting A in the Generate delivery group field for the item category in the bill of material main item.

In VOV7, choose the It Cat. In that you'll find a field "Create Delivery group". This will allow you to deliver the whole BOM together.
