Custom number range object ( S4 Hana Public Cloud)

As part of our extensibility, we are building an application to create Gate entry. 

In SAP ECC, we can,

• Create a custom number range object and assign a number range to it.
• Call that number range object using the function module NUMBER_GET_NEXT to generate the next number in the range.

Our question is:

How can we achieve similar functionality in SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud? Specifically, is it possible to create a custom number range object and call it in a program to generate a number range in the cloud environment? If so, what are the steps or best practices for implementing this in SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud?
