Configuring STD/LTD

Former Member

I'm trying to configure the following for Short-Term Disability (STD).

1. Salaried employees get 100% of their pay while on STD

2. Hourly employees with less than 5 years of service get 60%

3. Hourly employees with 5 or more years of service get 75%

How can I configure the STD % to be based on ee-subgroup and years of service?

Hello Marvin,

You can choose the Parameter Group Seniority and set up the Define Seniority Groups.

Aranka,

I know the parameter groups can be set up for Benefits but I don't see where they can be set up for STD/LTD since they are setup under Payroll- Absences and not Benefits.

Hi,

Use absence valuation rule in the table T5K0C for STD configuration.

UMO1 is also used as a modifier.

Hope this helps,

It looks like I set up 3 different valuation rules (100%, 75%, & 60%) and assign the rules based on the modifier set in UMO1. Is this correct? If so, how do I check for years of service?

Hi,

I believe for the years of service, you may need to customize V_T5KSP table.

If this doesn't work, you may use IT0041.

Or you may need to write a custom rule.

As far as I can tell, T5KSP only sets the duration of the STD period which, in our case, is the same for everyone.

I need to use a different % of pay (which I assume would be via valuation rules) based on employee subgroup and length of service.

Feature 07DTY sets the date type from IT0041 to use for hire date but I don't see that it's used anywhere in the STD config except for T5KSP.

If I could figure out how to determine length of service in a rule then I could possibly use rule UM01 to set UMODI 5 to different values and use TK50C to set the valuation rule. However, I don't know of a way to determine LOS in a rule.

Hi,

For the different % of pay based on employee subgroup, you are correct: You need to use the valuation rules.

For the length of service, I believe you need to write a custom rule bringing in IT0041 in the modifier rule.

Or you may try to use the table PA0041 and extract data from here.

Sorry, I can't try it on my system as I don't have authorization.
