Hi Guys,
Why do we maintain versions in CO? what do we mean by plan and actual versions and what data do we post to the versions? How is the data posted to these versions.
Is version like a seperate ledger and what is the significance of this ?
Thanks for your replies.
Thanks

Hi
Version ensures that your data remains consistent if you use the version in different applications(like overhead cost controlling and profitability analysis).when you create a controlling area R/3 system automatically creates version 0,valid for 5 fiscal years.
you can also create alternative versions.
R/3 system always use version 0 for Actual postings.
alternate versions are use for planned ones.
You define Controlling versions centrally and add application-specific settings for profitability analysis, profit centre accounting and overhead cost controlling.

Venkat
