Hey Guys,

We are selling our company mid of the month in Oct. The new company would like to have fresh data for their reports so we need to close our period when we sell( mid month close) we are using calendar dependent fiscal year.

If we change our calednar year to year dependent fiscaly year and make Oct 14th( date of the sale) to a new period what are the impacts

Or should we close 2007 on Oct 13th and start a year dependent fiscal year from Oct 14th??

please advice

thanks,

Zaid

Do a shortened fiscal year. You will close the old year as of 10/13. You will start the new fiscal year as of 10/14 unitl the end of the new fiscal year. All subsequent fiscal calendar years will be changed to the new dates.

pls assign points to say thanks.

Hi Dave Thanks for the reply. We can only make a year as shortened fiscal year if its year dependent right? you want me to change the calendar dependent to year dependent and then make it shortened fiscal year?

Please advice

Yes, you will convert the year dependent. Then you will be on a fiscal year instead.

Thanks Dave, our business likes that option the least and they want it to close the period rather than the year i.e oct 13 we will close period 10 and start period 11 on oct 14

what are the implications if we do this?

How will the system know it is period 11 and not period 10 if you have not shortened the calendar. If on a calendar you will be posting until the end of the month of Oct into Oct. The fiscal variant points your postings to a period. If you don't change it they will continue as always.

in the periods of my year dependent fiscal year, i will make oct 13 as period 10ths last day so oct 14 - nov 31 st will be period 11.

This should work right? if business doesnt agree for shortened fiscal year, cause in both cases we are changing from calendar dependent to year dependent anyways

You can't maintain periods that are calendar year. Go to OB29 and give it a try. You have no choice but to convert to year dependent. You could make oct 13 as period 10 last day so oct 14 - nov 31 st will be period 11. That will work.

I will convert it to year dependent and then maintain the periods. System allows me to do it, i am not sure if there will be any issues later on because of this and i wanted to see if some one converted calendar to year before.

Thanks for your help Dave
