Hi John,

If you want to change the Price control from standard price to moving average price.

You can make this change at any time. The moving average price replaces the standard price and is used for valuation from now on.

If You want to change the price control from moving average price to standard price, You cannot make this change in the following two cases;

1. If the material master record is set up as a valuation header record for a material subject to split valuation .

2. If the standard price comes from costing and is not equal to the moving average price

If the change is possible, the moving average price becomes the standard price, which is then used for valuation. You change the type of price control by overwriting the price control indicator in the material master record with the new indicator.Changing the type of price control for a material does not change the value of the material stock, since in both cases the current price becomes the new price.

hope this info will help.

hi

check the help given by SAP

Changing the Type of Price Control

From moving average price to standard price

You cannot make this change in the following two cases:

If the material master record is set up as a valuation header record for a material subject to split valuation For more information, see Split Valuation.

If the standard price comes from costing and is not equal to the moving average price

If the change is possible, the moving average price becomes the standard price, which is then used for valuation.

You change the type of price control by overwriting the price control indicator in the material master record with the new indicator.

Changing the type of price control for a material does not change the value of the material stock, since in both cases the current price becomes the new price. This is shown in the following graphic:

Hi,

Yes you can. You can use MM02 to change the price indicator from V to S. Here is what the system does when you do this. It copies the, till then, moving average price to the standard price field when you save.

What this means is that there is no impact when you change the indicator. Lets say, till the time you did the change the moving avg price was 15 and standard 10. Stock of 100 units will carry value 1500. You then change it to S. The system changes the indicator but does not change the stock value. The moving avg and standard price will both be 15.

Now you want to bring back the standard price to 10. You need to use MR21 and revaluate the material to price 10. The stock value then become 1000 and the balance of 500 us posted to the consumption account for inventory.

So you will have the following accounting entry generated:

Cr inventory (balance sheet account)----- 500

Dr change in inventory (P&L account)----- 500

Once youhave changed to S, going forward all inventory postings (issues and receipts) will happen at the rate of 10 and any differentials will get posted to value difference.

Cheers.
