Dear Experts,
I have changed the asset class with the following step:
1.create new asset class and account determination in spro.
2. Copy asset master data. Exp : copy from main asset number 1001, 1002, 1003.
3. Change the above asset number to the new ones (with new asset class and acct determination) through LSMW.Exp: new asset number are : 3001, 3002, 3003.
My question is :
- How about the old asset numbers that I have copied from?
It should to be lock or not since currently they have different asset class and account determination? In the other side, the other data like depreciation area, description asset, cost center, allocation are remain the same. How to lock the asset and how about the depreciation run?
Please advice.
Thank you in advance.
Hi Purti,
i think you have not assigned any points to me, anyhow i will tell you the way, when u create bdc for new assets or splliting of assets are the same ( we did splitting only). but formate will be change for new assets and splitting of assets, for BDC creation goto SHDB T.code and enter your programe name and enter t.code for which you want to create ( in your example AS11) and enter data what do you want to in new splitting assets and save. it shows one screen, u just give it to that information to your abaper, he will prepare the BDC.
anything else, let me know.
pls. assign points.
regards,
Gopi.

Hi,
what i observed in your tag, there are 4 issues,
1. Wrong Asset Class: Create New Asset Class
2. before creation new assets change in asset master data in spro and change the screen layout click on copy button.
3. New Asset Creation: Please use BDC for creation of New assets with right asset class (in your file you have to maintain dep. area and useful life)
4. for amount transfer : Please user BDC of ABUMN for transfer of assets.
same thing i did in our client, its working fine.
if any issue let me know.
regards,
Gopi.

Hi putri,
it's not completely clear to me what you have done with lsmw.
Well, the first step is ok, you have created a new assetclass with a new account determination.
The correct follow up activity is using transaction abumn. abumn creates a new assetmaster and transfers all the values to a new asset. the old asset is deactivated.
If any questions left, pls. let me know.
Best regards
Horst

Hi Horst,
Thanks for the naswer.
I am doing LSMW since we had about 19,000 asset to be changed with new class and new account determination. So LSMW is used to upload the data to the asset master.
The problem is : how about the useful life? How to transfer useful life data from old assets to the new ones?
And from the which tcode I have to deactivate the old assets?
Please advice.
Thank you.
Hello Putri,
indeed 19000 assets are a "challenge".
I guess you have transferred only the masterdata from the old asset to the new one - except the depreciation data (depkey, usefull live) and the assetvalues.
As far as I understand you have 19000 old assets with values and 19000 new assets without values. Am I right?
My first idea is the creation of a batch input recording with transaction abumn and execute a second lsmw with a transfer posting by using "Transfer to existing asset". This deactivates the old assets and transfers the values to the new one. But in my opinion it's quite dangerous because the usefull live and the depkey is not transferred.
Did you execute the process already in the productive system (Hopefully not....)
A better way is a lsmw with recording from abumn using "new asset" and a special transfervariant. you can use variant 4 as template. The transfervariant controls the fieldtransfer to the new target asset.
IMG path Financial Accounting - asset accounting - transactions - intercompany asset transfer - automatic intercompany asset transfers - define transfer variants.
- Define Transfer Variant - Specify Transfer of Fields (for New Asset in Target CoCd)
If the setup correct parameters within the variant all values and datas will be copied from the old asset to the new asset in one run. In addition the old asset will be deactivated.
If you go this way you have a big advantage: The asset historysheet and the whole assetreporting looks according to the statutory requirements.
Pls check my idea. If you need further assistance please let me know. 19000 assets in wrong classes are not a peanut....
Best regards
Horst

My advice.... pls don't even think about the possibility to update ANLA / ANLB / ANLC with a report. I made painfull experiences with this kind of reports......

further question: how long is the asset module productive?
Hi Horst,
Thanks a lot for your advice.
I have tried LSMW from AS01 in SQA (not in production system ) but that was not transfer the usefull life/depreciation area to the new asset.
Currently I would like to try LSMW from ABUMN using 'new asset' and transfer variant 4. I have also changed the configuration for define transfer variant.
I 'll inform you for the result.
Once again..thanks for your kind assistance.
Hi Horst,
I have tried to create 1 new asset through LSMW from ABUMN and this is the result:
1. New asset created successfully, copy from the old/reference asset in master data.
e.g: new asset number: 300000, sub number 0; old asset (reference) number: 1, sub number refrence 0.
2.After checked in AWO1N (asset explorer), there was no data in for :
-planned value/aquisition value
- posted value
-parameters (useful life is copied successfully from old asset (30), but for Exp.Usefull life is 0 in 2008 (it should be 23, since depreciation start from 1985).
How the data was not transfer from old to the new asset?
And How to lock the old asset that I already copied from? How to do this for mass data?
Pls advice.Thanks
Hi Putri
This what we did when we transferred similar number of assets to once class to other.
- Use ABUMN for the actual transfer
- Use UCR program through SE38 to transfer all the other master data as required.
Process:
You need to construct the BDC structure file - this will include all the steps you would take to do an asset transfer via ABUMN.
Prepare the BDC data file, this will specifiy what data to input per screens stipulated in structure file.
Only down side to this was, I have to slid a pound coin to get my enter key stuck in pressed positon to keep the process running as we had 5 to 6K assets per country for whole of the european arm.
I can send you the ucr structure file but don't know the moderators stance on this.
Hope this helps !
