Hai,

SAP Content Server stores the documents that Kpro manages and maintain. SAP Content Server runs on a separate computer that hosts an Internet Information Server(IIS),SAP extensions, and a database(with SAPu2019s DBMS SAP DB). The database is installed as part of SAP Content Server.

A content server always has a single database assigned to it. A database can therefore be used by

only one content server.Content servers are external storage systems. They are accessed by means of the SAP KPro HTTP protocol 4.5.

Cache servers are used to speed up access to document content. This is particularly useful if the content is required for display in a Web browser, for example. Cache servers can also reduce the network load and thereby enhance performance. It is therefore also a task of the cache to provide the client with documents from a physically close location, even if the content server is located on a different continent.Caches are used in many areas. For example, MS Internet Explorer uses a local cache on the user's hard disk.Cache servers are similar to content servers, but require less administration with the same level of access protection.

Hi

The SAP Content Server is a separate server for storing the documents(originals). It is used to decrease the load on the SAP server.KPro helps you to to mange content servers and cache servers.

Cache server enables you to store the documents locally or near to you. So the network traffic can be optimized,if the same document is to be accessed many times. If you do any changes in that file, the same will be cascaded to all the locations.
