Canceled item on a Goods Receipt causing business transaction error?

Hi,

We're dealing with a goods receipt that has produced a business transaction error.  The error states that the issue is a product category / account determination issue...however...this category is a fixed asset category & is already tied in the configuration to a fixed asset class and account determination group.  Could someone provide some insight as to why the system would be throwing this error if the product category, asset class & determinations are already setup 100% correctly?

The error states "cannot find determination group for product category xxxxxx.  No account determination group assigned to the given product category.  Please maintain the determination group in the fine tuning activity.  If you expect a posting to a fixed asset account (as we do), check whether you have assigned a fixed asset class to the product category used..."

Could this be a posting dates issue?  We've tried posting & 'posting to another period'...neither seem to clear the transaction error.  Also note that the fixed asset is not a low-value asset so that is not the issue either...

I'm sure we're missing some small gotcha...but any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Hello Ben

To classify any material as an Asset, there are few pre-requisites we should be met.

1. Process Type should be Non-Stock.

2. The Product Category should be maintained in the Fixed Asset Classes.

3. The value should be more than Capitalization Threshold for Fixed Assets.

4. You should assign the Individual Material in the Account Assignment/Cost Distribution Tab.

One of them is that "The value should be more than Capitalization Threshold for Fixed Assets".

As per the configuration in your – Business Configuration Work Center-> Find “capitalization threshold for Fixed Asset”.Can you check if the amount of the item is more than the threshold?

If all the above conditions are fulfilled, then systems should post to Fixed Asset.

Thanks

Thanks Parveen,

Currently there are no amounts used in the "capitalizatoin threshold for Fixed Assets".  Does the system use a default number for the threshold if no values are entered manually?

The amount of the item in the PO was for $852 so that should not be the issue.  All of the other points you mention are all configured correctly as well, which is why I'm not sure why this error is still being thrown.

Hello Ben

If all the points have been configured correctly, you can just maintain the Default Account determination group for the Product Categories. System might need the default account determination for any differences postings such as Price or Exchange rate.

System would still post it to Fixed Asset if all the pre-requisites are fulfilled. You could just maintain the settings Otherwise you need to cancel the GSR and then mark the cancellation GSR as Irrelevant and try creating a new one.

Hi Parveen,

Where can i set that up?  The 'default account determination for product categories' activity requires you use either 'group for materials' or a 'group for services'...

What would this be considered?  A default group for material? Because currently our materials groups are only used for inventory related materials...

thanks,

Hello Ben

Yes, you are right. The Default group for materials would be considered.

Thanks

unfortunately the system is still throwing the error after adding the default determination group.  It might be a problem with the system I guess...I'll escalate it to SAP.

I appreciate the help,

thx,
