Hi Experts,

The client would like to know what is the best practice regarding assigning custoemr master ship-to's. Should ship-to's be sharable with sold-to's or is it better practice to not share ship-to's with sold-to's and why?

Thanks!

There is nothing wrong in having multiple Ship-To for a Sold-To and either you can assign different Ship-To in Sold-To master data itself so that while creating sale order, system would pop up automatically those Ship To, while creating sale order. Alternatively, you can manually key in any Ship To in sale order.

Not clear with your question. In standard, if you want to make delivery related sales via SD route, for a Sold-To, you need to have a Ship-To and this Ship-To may not be the same in the master data. It can also be a different Ship-To

Thank you sir. What I meant is which option is the best practice? Meaning, can you share a single ship-to with multiple sold-to's?

Please look at my illustration below:

Current Practice

  • Sold-to 45230 Company Delta
  • Ship- to 32545 Company Alpha
  • Sold-to 47850 Company Beta
  • Ship – to 32545 Company Alpha

Is this best practice?

  • Sold-to 45230 Company Delta
  • Ship – to 32545 Company Alpha
  • Sold-to 47850 Company Beta
  • Ship – to 35780 Company Alpha

Company Alpha (the ship-to) has the same address. You will notice in the current practice a single ship-to is shared with different sold-to's. However, in the "is this best practice" field you will notice a separate ship-to was created for both sold-to's. Both ship-to's have the same address. Would it be the best practice to not share a single ship-to with multiple sold-to's due to tax implications?
