Hi experts, a question about AddOn licensing mechanism

I understand that you can license your AddOn in the following ways:

1) SDK Implementation. You generate a Implementation code from License Manager and put it in your addon as AddOnIdentifier. You are limited to use only UI api and you need a Software Development Kit - Implementation Version license, included in B1 8.8

2) SDK Development. You generate a Development code from License Manager and put it in your addon as AddOnIdentifier. You donu2019t have limit in API use and you need a Software Development Kit - Development Version license, NOT included in B1 8.8.

3) Solution. You generate a Solution code from License Manager and put it in your addon as AddOnIdentifier. You need a key form SAP but SAP could send you free of charge. You donu2019t have limit in API use and you need and Add On Access User license.

4) Indirect Access. Perhaps only for DI API? This license substitute the u201CCompatibility for Add-onsu201D used in previous B1 releases. You need a u201CIndirect Access Licenseu201D.

Please tell me If the above points are right.

I would like also to know:

-) it is correct that you could request SAP a key for the Mechanism 3) without costs also for a Not certified AddOns?

-) License mechanism 4) is only for DI Server access (e.g. only DI Server API)? And how much cost the Indirect Access License ?

-) What AddOnIdentifier do you put in you AddOn in Mechanism 4)?

Hi Marco,

1) Correct;

2) This license is used by the partners in order to develop DI/UI or DI only AddOns. This is a concurrent license and it involves an additional cost and must be requested separately from the SMP. Using this license the partner will generate the Addon Identifier which they will use in their code while they are developing and testing the Addon. Once the AddOn is finished they need to request a BASIS license from SAP.

3) A BASIS license is needed for generating the AddOn Identifier for the Solution option. You need to generate this license if providing the addon you developed to an end customer. With this BASIS license the partner will generate the Solution identifier for their final Addon, insert it into the code and compile the exe file. This must be compiled at the partner site.

If you are a partner creating an addon for an end customer we would ask you to log a message on SAP Service Marketplace with the component SBO-SDK-AA with the following information and a BASIS license will be generated for you.

4) Up to B1 2007A/B, any SDK AddOn would work even if the user had no License (either Professional or CRM Sales or CRM Service, etc). The AddOn could even instantiate all Master Data objects and create and/or update master data records. This enabled a customer to purchase lets say 2 Professional Licenses and have 20 user working in B1 (the 2 professional users would interact with the system forms, and the rest would interact with any SDK development made. To stop this scenarios from happening, SAP has introduced the Indirect Access User license. Each user that wants to run an SDK Addon must have this license and if it need to access a system object it will also need a B1 license that provided access to that object.

Example: You create an AddOn that generates A/R Invoices. The user running that invoice will need 1 Indirect Access User license (that provides access to the AddOn itself) AND an Limited Logistics license (that provides access to the system's A/R Invoice object). Check your countries' price table to know the cost of this license.

You must purchase an SDK License in order to request a BASIS key. Check your countries' price table to know the cost of this license.

what is the pro & cons for the both ?
