Hi Sachin,
MRP: Any plant in the system has to have stock of that material to sell. Now how much material should it have at any point of time is determined by MRP.
It uses screen MD04 primarily for all its information. For that it needs to have all the stock requirement for example as i said for your sales order query if you place an order of 10 items make to order that is a requirement it increases the stock requirement. In the same way when you deliver an order the requirement and stock is reduced hence that delivery also appears in the screen. So all the process of determining how materail is required on what date is aterial Requirement Planning.
Internally the program takes care of Lead time Safety stock and so on before calculating the amount.
Availability Check: In sales order the system automatically proposes the delivery date as you would have observed. It does nothing but goes to MRP takes into account the availability dates for example it will see ok 10 units of material one are available but 5 are required two days later so two days later you have 6 and 5 more are expected 3 days later. Hence any order posted today will at best be delivered 3 days later. that is availability check.
If you choose a delivery date before the date system proposes you will face the problem of no confirmed quantity as plant would not have stock to honour your order.
Hope it would have clarified to some extent.
Reward if helpful
Thanks & Regards

For regular make to stock order we dot know how much order we would expect so depending upon demand management we reach at a forecasted Intital Requirement called Planned Initial requirement this is also reflected in MD04 screen
While using availability check it is this screen where SAP goes and finds out what all order and deliveries are anticipated and when can we earliest promise a stock.

Hi,
MRP is carried out using current and future sales figures. The planned and the exact requirement quantities trigger the net requirements calculation. The requirement elements of this calculation include sales orders, planned independent requirements, material reservations, dependent requirements received from BOM explosion, and so on. The net requirements calculation can give the exact requirements for each day.
As for SD module is concerned Availability check is the process of checking weather the ordered material is available in particular storage location and plant for processing delivery and posting goods issue.
this availability check is linked from material master.if we activate the availability check system will perform availabilty check during delivery and propose the available quantities if the desired delivery quantity is not available.
Based on MRP and stock availability system will carry out indipendent planned requirements(it's much of PP module)
