Automatic change of equipment number, by change of Equipment Category

Sometimes, while creating equipment master it happens that wrong category was assigned. It is possible to change the category in change equipment screen,but the equipment number remains same.

Is it possible to change the category as per the number range assigned category-wise in both cases where:

1) No maintenance objects have been created so far on the equipment

2) Maintenance Object exist on the equipment

I understand you concluded in this thread that "its possible to change the equipment category. I have followed similar threads in this community in which it was suggested to do the change through ie02, edit->change equipment category, the system has refused.

How else can one change the equipment category?

Hello Gibson,

I just saw your post. It is a standard process in the specified menu path Edit > change Equip Category to change Equipment category manually. My query was different. If you have any issues in this manual process, please start a new discussion. You'd get solutions.
