Automatic Activity Number.

Hi All,

In my clients business process they need Alphanumeric Activity numbers for Network Activities. We are changing manually 0010,0020...to A100,A101...is there any settings to change at configuration level in order to get Automatic generation of Activity numbers A100. A101,A102...etc while creating Activities? Same as Network order number A5000, A5001,A5002.....

Kindly provide the information for the above.

Hi,

I created a standard template to default numbering (Alph+numeraic) for NWA which was defaulted to operative projects.

This is not possible to thr configuration.

Hi,

For networks i am aware that you can have the WBS name as the network automatically. However, not sure if you can have automatic numbering for the activities as you have indicated. Instead why dont you create a project (operative) with activity nomenclature as you desire and use it as a template to create new projects. This is just a suggestion. Try it and let us know.

Hi Gokul,

Thank you for the reply and i am aware that we can have same WBS name to Network but here the network is having individual descriptions and we need the network numbers and Activity numbers should be automatic when we create new ones as :

For Networks : A10001 (design), A10002 (Civil),...etc

Activity : A100 (GA drawings), A101 (Mnf drawings), A103 (Automate drawings)...etc

Can you show some light on this issue how to achieve?

Hi Sehsagiri,

I agree with Gokul. I doubt whether automatic numbering of Activity is possible in standard SAP PS.

I think it is possible in Primavera System. Refer discussion in thread below.

It can not be done. The field property does not allow to have alphabet in the number of network activity.

Hi,

It can be done only through maintaining standard templates and creating projects using these templates. I don't suggest you to do developments for this, as this can be achieved using templates.
