Auto PR from production order creation or release

Hello,

We are using scenario and run the MRP through MD50.

Our requirement is to have the PR generation automatically for the packing material after production order creation for the header material. So that we can convert the PR to POOs at regular intervals.
Will you please let me know how to configure and the PR can be seen in PR field of component overview in CO02.

How do you maintain your packing materials ? Do you create material master for them or do you maintain them as text items and procure them at once whenever there is a short fall.

If you maintain them as materials, then you should have the packing material as a component in the BOM for the material that is going to be packed and production order will generate a requirement for that packing material, and MRP can plan it and generate a PR which you can convert to PO and procure. Normally packing materials can be planned using MRP type VB and a fixed re order point.

In case you want production order to create Auto PR, it is possible in case of operation subcontracting only, where in you use a control key with option for external processing. But this is not applicable to scenario of packing, unless your packing activity is done by some vendor.

When adding your component in the BOM, you should use item category 'N - Non Stock'. See the link below for details:

Hello Ameya,

Currently we are using VB as MRP type. But management decided to have this PR based on order quantity not on safety stock.

At the same time, we are maintain the packing materials master data and yes those are the part of BOM.

As of now, we are having only PP01 as control key and there is no PP02 which is for external processing. They want the PR to be generated for the same packing material at the time of creation or release. So that they will convert the respective PRs to PO automatically through ME59N.

Are you trying to day that there are only two options i.e. either to have VB as MRP type which will calculate the requirements on safety stock and to have PP02 which is purely for external subcontracting. ???
