Assignment of dep key to asset class

Hi:

Is it possible for system to automatically pick dep key based on particular asset class. If yes then how and where we can configure it.

One more clarification needed in this regard. Suppose we have one asset class Plant and Machinery. Is it possible for it to have assets having differing dep key. I believe that for one asset class there should be one dep key and that should be picked automatically by system as you told. Please guide.

Yes you can create no. of depreciation keys. for single asset class. but have to define different depreciation keys in AFAMA

Ex. straght line depreciation, Decling balace method. .... you can create 2 depreciation keys & assign it to your asset

At OAYZ we are assigning DepKey to default it at the time of creation of asset master AS01.

While creating newe asset wit same asset class, system defaults the above DepKey and YOU CAN CHANGE as well

Suppose P&M assets having default DepKey of 5% SLM (picked by default). We can change it to 5% WDV method at asset master after creating another new DepKey. You can default this new DepKey at OAYZ as well if you need.

the Answer is Yes

We can achieve the said requirement by mentioning the Depreciation key in the required depreciation area of the selected chart of depreciation.

First take the asset class (OAYZ)

Select the asset class

Double click on Depreciation area

Then you will get the depreciation area screen where you can assign the required depreciation key

If the deactive check box is selected, first un check and enter Dep Key and save

You can also use the below mentioned path for this activities

SPRO>Financial Accounting>Asset Accounting>Valuation>Determine Depreciation Areas in the Asset Class

Go to OAYZ

Enter your Chart of Depreciation

Select your class and click in Depreciation areas

Enter here depreciation key and save

If the deactive check box is selected, first un check and enter Dep Key and Screen layout and save
