Archiving MM_MATNR

Hi ,

My question refers to the last step of archiving a material .

we use a 3 rd party tool / separate server/ D.B for all archived objects. From the R3 the archived records are moved to a External Server .

1. We need an option to view the archived Materials on the External Server

2. We need an option to import the archived data from the

External Server Back to R3 .

Are those 2 options exist for Archiving Objects (Like MM_MATNR) ? in R3

If yes please guide me the transaction/s i NEED TO use

& if i need to Activate the transaction/s first ?

Thanks

Hi David,

It is possible to view the archived materials from the external server and also retrieve the archive files back to R3 from External server.

Options to view archived materials master data (MM_MATNR)

1. TA: MM72

2. Report: MMREO120

Options to retrieve the archived data back to R3

1. TA: SARA -> StorageSyst. -> Retrieve files

2. Use report RSARCH_RETRIEVE_FILE

Options to reload archive data back to R/3 database

1. TA: SARA -> Goto -> Reload

(This option is disabled by default. Contact SAP to enable the same)

Hope this helps

Cheers!

Hi,

Thanks very much very helpfull but still i have 2 more questions :

you wrote

Options to reload archive data back to R/3 database

1. TA: SARA -> Goto -> Reload

(This option is disabled by default. Contact SAP to enable the same)

what do you meen "Contact SAP to enable the same" please guide me what to do ? open an OSS to get help how to enable the Load ? other possibility ?

Does what you wrote me referes as a General process to all Archiving Objects or only to MM_MATNR?

THANKS AGAIN & GOOD EVENING

Reloading archived data back to R/3 database is not advisable in most cases and hence the Reload option is not enabled for all the archive objects as a default by SAP.

Further Reloading of archived data is not supported for all the archive object. You will need to create a OSS message if you wish to use the Reload option for any archive object.

Hope this helps!

Cheers!

Archived data can be reloaded !!! .....but not in any case and not at any time.

Archivingobject RV_LIKP deliveries allows it. COPA archiving objects as well.

It is certainly not recommended to do it. Sometimes it is only possible directly after an archiving run and before the first transaction created new documents, to avoid inconsistencies.

But I am not sure if the question was about loading the data back into the tables, or just about getting the data from e.g. a disk storage back into the file system in SAP.

Maybe the questioner can specify.
