Add field as document splitting characteristic for General Ledger - S4

Hi Experts,

In one of our clients we would like to define the splitting not just by segment and profit center but also by WBS element. WBS element would need to be defined as new document splitting characteristic for General Ledger as currently is not available.

Could you please guide me on this process? I guess I need to include this field in the coding block. Would that be enough? I do not think so. I have seen some comments that refer to transaction code FAGL_GINS for adding ZZPS_PSP_PNR as the WBS field in table FAGLFLEXT ….. FAGLFLEXT is a compatibility view in S4 and this transaction code does not exist to S4 HANA.

Hi Daniel,

Please have a look at SAP Note#2453614 - FAQ: Universal Journal Extensibility. As per SAP note Several extensibility options are available, and from further information you should use option “Classic” Coding Block extension using OXK3 transaction and CI_COBL structure.

Below is content from SAP notes:-

Document Splitting (S/4HANA On-Premise and S/4HANA Finance only)

• Values for custom fields added using the “classic” Coding Block, the Coding Block business context, "classic" CO-PA custom characteristics, and the Market Segment business context values are entered or derived before G/L document splitting. Coding Block fields can be used as split criteria for the G/L document split.
• Values for custom fields added using the Journal Entry Item business context may be derived after G/L document splitting and cannot be used as split criteria.
