about calendar in SD

hi, everyone,

Can you tell the uses of calendar.

Plant

Sales Organization

shipping point

Route determination

When i create of them ,in all of screen ,there is a field "Factory calendar".

I want to konw the effect to the process of Logistics ,If I do not fill it or filled wrong calendar?

Its not mandatory to mainatin factory calender, plants which has assigned to shipping point should have same factory calender.

In factory calender holiday calender will be assigned, so plants and shipping points will not create deliveries on holidays if delivery background jobs.
