hi
ABAP Workbench tool that allows users without knowledge of the ABAP programming language to define and execute their own reports.
using this Functional consultants can create reports without the help of Abaper
Users enter texts and select fields and options in order to determine the structue of the reports. Fields are selected from functional areas and can be assigned a sequence by numbering.
Three types of report are available:
Basic lists
Statistics
Ranked lists

Where all the standrad reports are of no use in meeting clients requirement, you may explore for suitable options in query.
Query means " Extracting some data" rom stored tables. ABAP is the program language the system uses for it.
Take for an example the GL master data. YOu don't have any standard reports, in showing the both COA data and COCD data.
So one way of using the query is to generate a report for GL master data in a format which clubs both COA and COCD data.
You can write your own queries or you can create Infosets and assign users to it. So that the users assigned to it only will access and select the feilds for reporting that they require.
This will eliminate the unnecessary ABAP work time saving money and effort for the project.
This is a fucntional consultant job.
Hope you understood the concept.
