SAP SE and SIEMENS AG announced a strategic partnership in the area of Industrial Transformation with a goal to combine their expertise in product lifecycle, supply chain and asset management to deliver new innovations and business models that remove silos and accelerate industrial transformation.
The partnership aims to provide faster product time to value, methods to design with real-time supply chain information, create a sustainable product development process and deliver an end-to-end digital thread throughout the product lifecycle.
The SAP PLM strategy for Process Industry Customers?
The SAP PLM solution portfolio is significantly expanded through the partnership with Siemens and opens up completely new possibilities for existing and new customers. SAP is committed to support customers in the acceleration of their digitization throughout their organization and transform the idea of Industry 4.0 into reality with a combined solution portfolio consisting of Siemens and SAP components.
The partnership means that the SAP PLM solution portfolio for Discrete Industries is significantly expanded to go deep in engineering. But contrary to noise in the media, this strategic agreement has no impact on existing SAP PLM solution portfolio for the foreseeable future.
The scope of this partnership does not include SAP PLM solutions for Process Industry such as SAP Recipe Development & associated tools or SAP solutions for product compliance in Process Industries. SAP solutions which support Product Compliance in discrete industries are planned to be integrated with Siemens Teamcenter, leading the overall compliance process on the SAP side. SAP will continue to invest in all these SAP solutions.
