Hello Everyone,

With the recent interaction with our Partners, we encounter that there is a need for certain FAQs on the Test Automation Tool. This blog series will help our Customers and Partners to know different FAQs on the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Testing Automation Tool which will help them to leverage the Test Automation Tool in their implementation phases as described in SAP Activate Methodology Testing workstream.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Test Automation Tool is an integral part of SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud & provisioned for all customers in their Quality systems. To ease customer testing activities in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, SAP delivers the test automation tool along with the detailed test scripts for most of the business process for SAP S/4HANA Cloud.

The customers can leverage the Test Automation Tool, from day 1 as soon as they have activated their Q systems and have setup the tool.

Today, let's focus on following FAQs asked by our customers and partners on Change Test Data Using Data Variant task typically during Test Execution in Realize Phase.

1. How do I create change master data in the SAP Default variant and use system variables?


a. Open Test your processes app => Search for your test plan => Click on variants Icon =>Select the SAP default variant (do not select the checkbox of the variant)=> Choose edit at the bottom right of the page and change the required master data in the value field as shown below-

b. Open Test your processes app => search for your test plan => Click on variants Icon  => Select the SAP default variant (do not select the checkbox of the variant)=> Choose edit at the bottom right of the page =>Choose value help in the Value fields =>On the pop, select System Variables (Predefined Variables).

c. Some of the available system variables mentioned below.
• $TODAY - A 10-digit value for the current date.
• $FIRSTDATE - A 10-digit value for the first date of the current month.
• $LASTDATE - A 10-digit value for the last date of the current month.

2. How do I create a custom variant and execute it?


a. On the Test Your process application, select your test plan and then select the tab “Variants” of the automate you want to create custom variants.

b. Click on the + icon and choose Create Variant

c. You will be navigated to the below screen where you can create your custom variants and save the variant. You need to repeat the process for creating separate variants.

 


 

3. How to check if the data binding is valid after creating a custom script.


a. Go to the Variants tab of your custom test plan and navigate to the custom variant you have created.

b. Once you reach the Manage Variants screen, check for the number of process steps in the custom test plan where the data is being read (#2 in this case where the Demand is created).

c. You need to change the data binding of process step #3 – Close Material Demand. You need to read the Demand ID from Process step #2 – Define Material Demand – Req on Save.
