SAP Activate for SAP S/4HANA Cloud 1905

We are pleased to announce the availability of the updates to SAP Activate for SAP S/4HANA Cloud 1905. This release delivers many updates to the ready-to-run business processes, prescriptive methodology and apps for configuration, testing and extensibility.  Leverage implementation portal for SAP S/4HANA Cloud for fast and guided deployments

• Refreshed prescriptive guidance for deployment in SAP Activate methodology for SAP S/4HANA Cloud 1905


• Two new available countries, Portugal and Russia, are included in the provisioning and preset activities


• Configure Your Solution continues to grow in number of available SSCUIs ~ 1300 total SSCUIs – 190 of them being new


• New functionalities in test automation tool to include new download function of test plans and test processes

What’s new in SAP Cloud ALM implementation portal for SAP S/4HANA Cloud

In the last release we have introduced implementation portal for SAP S/4HANA cloud that delivers SAP Activate in a new toolset that guides customers deploying SAP S/4HANA Cloud with a tailored, scope aware journey. Currently the implementation portal is available under Early Customer Care program primarily for new customer projects.

Customers using this tool will find new features added in the implementation portal:

• Content Update Notifications - users receive notifications when SAP releases new content updates to the methodology


• Task Change History - task will display comprehensive history of changes to the status, ownership assignment as well as remarks about updates by SAP through the content updates. Five most recent changes are shown on the task page, user can drill down to full log if needed.


• Export to Excel - users can export task list from the implementation portal tool to Excel file, additionally project users can export the project header setup information and history to Excel

• User Management – application has new capabilities to manage users directly in the implementation portal


• Visual improvements and additional information indicators added that for example show the count of requirements and notes associated with the scope item; whether the requirement or note have been turned into a follow-up task and indicators of predecessor task completion

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Release Assessment and Scope Dependency

The SAP S/4HANA Cloud Release Assessment and Scope Dependency tool is being launched with the 1905 release for all customers. This tool will help customers understand the new functionality and the changes to existing functionality with the current release as well as provide insights and recommendations that are specific to a customer.  Some highlights of the tool include:

• Personalized scope analysis for customers based on their activated scope or implemented scope.


• Categorization of changes into functional, API, Deprecated, CDS Views, Authorizations and SSCUI for quick analysis of impact to their existing scope.


• Recommendation on what to test based on degree of change and impact of change to the scope items.


• Additional information on new scope items that the customer can potentially activate based on the dependencies among scope items.

Highlights of SAP Activate Methodology Updates in 1905 

The SAP Activate content in the Implementation Roadmap for SAP S/4HANA Cloud has been enhanced for 1905 with improvements to help guide the customer through the implementation journey. A few highlights are: 

1905 Update for SAP Activate Methodology Roadmap for SAP S/4HANA Cloud

• Added new deliverables, tasks and related accelerators to the Solution Adaption stream to give guidance on Organizational Change Management.


• Several guidance improvements in the tasks and accelerators related to the system preset phase in order to highlight that some configuration cannot be changed once set. This includes chart of accounts keys, organization structure keys and the fiscal year variant.  


• Reorganized and remodeled the Quarterly Release Cycle to improve the guidance related to the quarterly release. The Quarterly Release Cycle deliverable was duplicated in the Realize phase to improve visibility.


• Added the user initiated transport import process to the Execute Transport Sprints and eliminated the need for service center involvement.

Deployment Experience Updates  

Please find below a few highpoints related to the Deployment Experience.

Provisioning / Pre-SetPhase – main changes

Improvements were made to the Configure Your Solution and the SSCUIs to include the following updates:  

• Service Organization is moved to realize phase.
  
  
  
  • Service Organization will be set up by customers in the realize phase within a SSCUIs in the Configure Your Solution app.

• Two additional Countries Portugal and Russia are available.

Configure your Solution

Improvements were made to the Configure Your Solution and the SSCUIs to include the following updates:  

• Available SSCUIs in 1905
  
  
  
  • The number of SSCUIs is continuously growing. In 1905, approximately 190 new SSCUIs are available providing a total of 1300 SSCUIs.   
  
  
  
  


• Deletion in SSCUIs
  
  
  
  • A total of 250 SSCUIs will be available with 1905, which will be enabled with a feature to delete unwanted records created by the customer.  The SSCUIs that have deletion enabled can be identified in the Reference Excel in SAP Activate Roadmap Viewer or a delete button appears at the top of the SSCUI in the system.

Testing

In 1905, the number of pre-delivered automated test scripts increased to 228. The 13 new automated test scripts are in the following areas: Financials: 7, Manufacturing 2, Database & data management: 1, Sourcing & Procurement: 1, Supply Chain: 2.

 The following main new functionalities are new in test automation tool for S/4HANA Cloud in 1905:

• Release dependent changes at standard automated test scripts will be visible within the two test apps “Manage your test processes” and “Test your processes”. SAP performs such changes on a quarterly base, to adapt the test automats to release changes (e.g. UI changes, software changes).


• Feature to schedule test plans is enhanced to allow the selection of data variants


• Possibility to change roles in process type “standard”. This enables role based testing whilst profiting from quarterly updates of standard automated test scripts, done by SAP.


• New download function of test plans (in “Test your processes”), and test processes (in “Manage your test processes” app)
