SAP’s commitment regarding extended support of SAP Business suite 7 Applications till end of 2027. However there are many customers who already started their Digital transformation journey to SAP S/4HANA.
As part of SAP Digital Business Services, we get a lot of questions from customers regarding roadmap, Business process, innovation within SAP S/4HANA and transition path. Some of the questions are related to roadmap and transition path, while others are in the area of business processes and Innovations.

Product Availability Matrix (PAM) : PAM is the 1
st place we look into the product release information, This is the central place where SAP publish the release information, type and maintenance of all products. This is in place since decades and most of us are pretty use to of PAM by now.
2- Transition to SAP S/4HANA Roadmap:This will be a go-to guide for Project team to ensure a smooth SAP S/4HANA transition. This roadmap includes all scenarios (Conversion, New implementation and data transition). It also provides a project plan template, which can be customized based on project requirement. Further this provides high level insight to SAP Activate Methodology focused on SAP S/4HANA transition, and how can customer leverage SAP Value Assurance services to safeguard SAP S/4HANA transitions.

4- Simplification Item list SAP S/4HANA : This is a very comprehensive document provides microscopic details on the simplification items and compatibility, this is release specific. In order to understand the architectural changes and impact on the existing landscape, this document should be reviewed by functional and technical owners. Simplifications item list in itself is a broader and important topic, we highly recommend our customers to spend time reviewing this list based on their landscape and understand the impact on the target solution.

5- Custom Code Migration Guide for SAP S/4HANA 1809 : Provides instructions on how to adapt custom code in the context of a system conversion to SAP S/4HANA. This is a detailed document outlines the analysis and adaptation of custom code after system conversion.

6-Best Practices for SAP S/4HANA (on premise) : Review the best-practices which provides preconfigured content for business processes. it includes finance, Manufacturing, service management, HR, Supply Chain etc. SAP Best Practices also provides integration to cloud solutions from SAP such as SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central and SAP Ariba. I would highly recommend project leads and solution architects to review the contents and perform the fit gap analysis keeping target solution in mind.
7-SAP Transformation Navigator: SAP transformation Navigator is one of the latest self-service tools available to streamline the customer’s journey SAP S/4HANA transition, it generates product road map based on customer specific landscape. Pathfinder : Pathfinder report is customer specific report, that provides recommendations relevant to SAP innovation, business processes and potential area of optimization. This report needs to be requested by customer and require two inputs:
- Transaction workload data of customer system (ST03n)
- Latest EarlyWatch Alert report

9-SAP Business Scenarios Recommendations Report (BSR) : SAP BSR report is another customer specific report, which can be requested by customer, it requires customers to implement few SAP Notes in an SAP ERP system and run extraction reports. This will generate a ZIP file, which needs to be uploaded while requesting the BSR report. SAP will send the report to customer in 5 to 10 business days once request is received by SAP.
The outcome of SAP BSR report is an interactive report, it outlines the operational business process, usage, benchmarks and improvement opportunities in areas such as Finance, Procurement, SCM etc.

Fiori App Library : SAP Fiori app reference library provide details of all available Fiori App; customer needs to review the SAP Fiori App recommendation from SAP BSR report and then explore Fiori App library for specific Fiori app. Here App’s are summarized based on Industry, Roles, application component etc. you can review specific apps, features as well as Implementation information.
Conclusion: In summary, SAP provides many enablement tools that can help in transition to SAP S/4HANA. These tools address most areas such as roadmap, business scenarios, business processes, sizing, user experience as well as custom code.
