Release Highlights SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, Public Sector
The Public Sector Management (PSM) scope bundle including Grants Management, Budget Management, and Fund Accounting was previously released for the US, Canada, and Germany. With 2408, the public sector functionality is now also available for the UK, the Netherlands, and Australia. Our global rollout is just beginning to gather momentum, expect more countries to become available in 2025. Check out the 2408 release in Process Navigator.

Features:

Substitution Tool for Budget Documents
Features:
You now have the ability to automatically derive values (e.g., account assignments, budget type, and item description) when creating a budget document using the app Manage Budget Documents.
Benefits:
- Better usability and faster end-user input
- Improved data quality by pre-populating the right data
Ability to consume the budget for an expected expense (due date) instead of the posting date
Features:
- Configure the behavior of the budget consumption date
- Leverage this feature to use a due date (or expected expense date) as a budget consumption date; for instance, update purchase orders with a delivery date of next year to consume next year’s budget
Benefits:
- Post commitments into future years even when the document is created today
- Avoid consuming this year’s budget and prevent unnecessary carry forwards
- Improve compliance in some countries where this is a legal requirement

Checking budget availability using project hierarchies
Features:
- Increased flexibility to control project budget using both universal hierarchies and the project standard hierarchy
- Use a universal hierarchy, the project standard hierarchy or both
Benefits:
- You can now roll up budgets for certain projects within the project hierarchy and other projects using universal hierarchies
- Capabilities to model a program structure above project hierarchies
- Use project hierarchies without maintaining additional universal hierarchies
Budget updates for generating budget documents
Features:
Allows the generation of budget documents for uploaded budget, including documents from budget planning tools or Microsoft Excel.
Benefits:
Provides a consistent base of budget maintenance documents for uploaded and manually created budget documents.
Reporting on the budget versus payments and open invoices
Features:
- New Budget and Payment Line Item Analyzer report
- Ability to compare budgets against payments and open invoices, as well as encumbrances and pre-encumbrances
- Align budgetary reporting with financial and management reporting
Benefits:
Understand the impact on your budget at any stage in the financial process.
