Pre-requisites for SAP S/4HANA Manufacturing for Planning and Scheduling on DSC Edition (Side by Side)

In this blogpost, we will review the pre-requisites that must be taken into account while implementing SAP S/4HANA Manufacturing for Planning and Scheduling side by side to an SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA on-premise system.

In this scenario, advanced production planning would run on the DSC edition while production execution will happen on the on-premise ERP or S/4HANA system using core Production Planning (PP) module. To implement this scenario, there are certain pre-requisites that must be taken care of. They are as follows:

1. System Considerations

As ERP system, the following systems can be used:

  • SAP S/4HANA 2020 FPS1 with SAP Note 3020852 or higher

  • SAP S/4HANA 1909 with support package 6 or higher or SAP Note 3126428

  • SAP Enhancement Package 7 for ERP 6.0 with support package 23 or SAP Note 3004711

  • SAP Enhancement Package 8 for ERP 6.0 with support package 17 or SAP Note 3004711


As PP/DS system, you can use SAP S/4HANA 2020 FPS1 or higher with SAP Note 3020852

2. SAP liveCache

The SAP liveCache is installed for the PP/DS system. For more information, see SAP Note 2407589.

3. PP/DS Optimizer (optional)

An optimizer is installed for the PP/DS system. For more information, see SAP Notes 1686826 and 712066

4. RFC Users

Before any customizing activity can be done, check that an RFC user exists in each system/client that is used.
