You may sometimes want to get an overview of classification information for a number of functional locations or equipment. This overview could contain many more characteristics (perhaps over a hundred), than the list can display. You could enhance the list for yourself, but it would be nicer if SAP provided this functionality out of the box.
This is exactly what we have done, by extending the number of characteristics that can be displayed for functional locations and equipment in the singe-level list displays to 200.

Another crucial aspect of this overview is to be able to determine which classes are assigned to which functional locations or equipment, even if the characteristic values are still initial. You can also do this with new columns, that show which class is assigned to which functional location or equipment.

Display of Assigned Class with Initial Characteristic Values

To round off this functionality, we are also delivering an improvement to the exporting function of result lists to a spreadsheet. To find out more, refer to this blog post.

On top of this, we have implemented some quality-of-life improvements for the detail display of the functional locations and equipment. You can now customize a new view to display 20 characteristics for the functional location and equipment details. You can also navigate directly from the functional location and equipment details to the classification changes in the menu.

The new functionality is available with SAP Note 3021204 or with the upcoming support packages of Enhancement Package 8 for SAP ERP 6.0 and SAP S/4HANA 1909, 2020, and 2021. You can enable the new functionality by implementing either the SAP Note or by installing the corresponding support packages, and switching on the business function Enterprise Asset Management Part 16 for the classical user interface.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on the new functionality, so please comment if you have any questions!
