Manage Work Center Groups - Enhancements
With this release, you can now view and edit the Shift Node Type and Shift Report Type with reference to a work center or resource in the details page of the app under the Shop floor Execution Details facet.
Fig. 1: SAP Fiori app 'Manage Work Center Groups' with 'Shop floor Execution Details' facet
With the new Mass Maintenance of Work Center Capacities app, you can perform a mass create of interval for selected work center capacities. As a Production Planner, you must manage the capacities of multiple work centers to meet future demands. When you foresee a spike in demand, you can create multiple intervals for a few or all capacities that belong to the work centers in a production line/Work Center group. Intervals can be created for both working and non-working days. Within the given interval, you can create shifts for a single day and allow it to repeat on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
In the next demo video my colleague Markus Oertelt shows you the new app in a short demo:

The Realign Schedule option enables you now to re-prioritize the order schedules in pacemaker work centers to an earlier or a later date using the Realign Schedules button.
You will also be able to set a threshold for scheduling order operations in the past (while rescheduling or realigning orders) using the Past Scheduling Threshold option
under App Settings.
The next figure shows on the left side the threshold setting and on the right side the validation due to the threshold setting being raised while rescheduling.

Supplier Collaboration with MRP Change Requests
Next, I would like to introduce an important innovation in the area of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) called Supplier Collaboration with MRP Change Request. This innovation improves the communication with suppliers and the processing of MRP change requests in an integration scenario with an external procurement system. The integration scenario enables material planners in SAP S/4HANA to directly inform their suppliers about exceptions that occurred in an MRP run, such as planned changes in quantity or date of purchase orders. The next figure shows a simplified process flow diagram about the MRP Change Request Integration Scenario with the technical name SAP_COM_0667:
Fig. 4: MRP Change Request Integration Scenario (simplified process flow)
On the left side of the figure you can see the SAP S/4HANA system, on the right side the Ariba Network as the procurement system. The communication between both systems is done via SOAP and ODATA APIs.
In the SAP S/4HANA system, users with the business role Material Planner - External Procurement can use the Create MRP Change Requests app to create change requests for existing purchase order schedule lines based on the list of rescheduling proposals from MRP rescheduling checks. You can send these change requests to suppliers using an external procurement system to request a change of the quantity or delivery date for a purchase order schedule line so that material availability can be ensured and customer requirements can be fulfilled. In the external procurement system, suppliers can accept or reject the change requests or send new proposals. After you have received an answer from a supplier, you can either apply or discard the changes included in a specific change request or proposal.
The next figure shows the detailed process flow of the MRP Change Request Integration Scenario:
Fig. 5: Detailed process flow of the MRP Change Request Integration Scenario
The new Manage Change Requests app enables you to follow up on changes you have requested from your vendor as well as place requests for changes you have collected. You create change requests when using the apps for managing material shortages or uncovered requirements. You can request that the vendor change the quantity or delivery date in a purchase order or stock transport order so that material availability can be ensured and customer requirements can be fulfilled. At the end of the process, you either apply the changes, which automatically updates the order, or you discard the request.
With the Schedule Sending of MRP Change Requests app, you can schedule MRP change requests and status updates to be sent to your suppliers periodically, by using the APIs provided.
With the Schedule MRP Rescheduling Checks app, you can schedule MRP rescheduling checks to run periodically.
Repetitive Manufacturing in Demand-Driven Replenishment
Now coming to Demand Driven Replenishment.
With the 2108 release, you can make additional configuration settings for demand-driven replenishment and use the new MRP type D2 for support of repetitive manufacturing. You can use the MRP type D2 to include dependent requirements of planned orders that are firmed for MRP planning or that are relevant for repetitive manufacturing processes during the net flow equation.
Watch the next video which shows the new MRP type D2 in configuration and material master:
Video 4: Demand Driven Replenishment - New MRP Type D2 supports Repetitive Manufacturing
Forecast Delivery Schedules for Materials in a Demand-Driven Environment
You can use predictive material and resource planning (pMRP) to create and send forecast delivery schedules for materials in a demand-driven environment to suppliers.
In certain business processes, procurement proposals are triggered late (demand-driven replenishment, non-MRP Kanban replenishment). You can use predictive MRP to give suppliers a provisional, non-binding forecast.
The Manage Process Orders app enables production supervisors to manage the progress of process orders in process manufacturing. Many useful features are added to the Manage Process Orders app, all of which are listed in the What's New Document. In this blog I want to highlight two of them:
New facet Other Manufactured Products that shows details of Co-products & By-products and a Micro-Chart shows a comparison of Planned and Delivered quantities
Fig. 6: SAP Fiori app Manage Process Order - New facet for Co-products and By-Products
Order Information facet displaying a pie chart depicting Delivered, Open and Confirmed Scrap Quantities
Fig. 7: SAP Fiori app Manage Process Order - New pie chart depicts Delivered, Open and Confirmed Scrap Quantities
Feature Comparison for Confirming Production Order Operations
The SAP Help documentation now contains useful feature comparisons between 'classic' visual harmonized apps and new SAP Fiori apps. An exciting example is the Feature Comparison for Confirming Production Order Operations - SAP Help Portal which provides a table that compares the features offered by the apps for confirming operations of production orders.
As a production supervisor in lean manufacturing, the new Monitor Kanban Containers app helps you to monitor and evaluate your Kanban containers allowing you to act quickly to solve issues. You can personalize the displayed list of Kanban containers according to your use cases. You can navigate to a Kanban container to see more details.
In the next video I show you how to select kanban containers with status 'Error':
Video 5: New SAP Fiori app 'Monitor Kanban Containers'
Kanban Board - Automatic Refresh and Reverse Status Change
The Kanban Boardapp allows you now to define a time interval for automatically refreshing the list of kanban containers with the latest status and information. To do this, press the Board Settings button, which is marked in red dashed on the next screenshot.
Fig. 8: Kanban Board - Automatic Refresh
Additionally, you can set back the status of containers that are on "Error" to their previous valid status. The previous valid status of the container shown above was "Empty". As a result the button "Set back to EMPTY" is active. This button is also marked with a red dashed line in the screenshot above besides the "Board Settings" button.
Hide Pricing Information for Production and Process Orders
As announced in the introduction, we now come to an important functional change for which we need your special attention.
Due to many customer requests we are introducing the new restriction type Hide price information in production/process orders.
With it, you can grant or restrict the authorization to display price information for your users starting in the SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2108 release. In SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2108, the restriction has to be maintained and will take effect in SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2111. Without maintaining the restriction, all users will lose price information display.
The following apps are affected:
CO01 - Create Production Order
COR1 - Create Process Order
CO02 - Change Production Order
COR2 - Change Process Order
CO03 - Display Production Order
COR3 - Display Process Order
COOIS - Monitor Production / Planned Orders
COOISPI - Monitor Process / Planned Orders
COHV - Mass Processing Production Orders
COHVPI - Mass Processing Process Orders
F2261 - Production Order Object Page
The following figure shows where you can see price relevant fields for instance in a production order:
Fig. 9: Where you can see price relevant fields – e.g. in a production order
For comparison the next figure shows the same apps, but when the price relevant fields are hidden:
Fig. 10: Where price relevant fields are hidden if do not give permission - e.g. in a production order
The restriction type Hide price information in production/process orders has also impact on enterprise search:
The following figure shows where you can see price relevant fields in enterprise search:
Fig. 11: Where you can see price relevant fields in enterprise search
For comparison the next figure shows the enterprise search when the price relevant fields are hidden:

Unrestricted access:
If you want to do no changes – mark it, press the unrestricted access button.
Fig. 14: 'Maintain Business Roles' app - How to assign unrestricted access to the undefined fields
The 2108 release provides a number of new interfaces and user exits that I cannot report on within the scope of this blog. However, there is one user exit that I feel is particularly important to highlight here.
The new Business Add-In (BAdI) Manufacturing Order Check before Save (BD_MFGORDER_CHECK_BEFORE_SAVE) enables customers to implement their own custom logic to check the order data on header, on operation, and on component level before saving the order. Also provided are the order status, as well as potentially existing data that has been saved and current data.
This BAdI can support lots of use cases. Example: Prevent work center change for distributed orders.
As an administrator, the Custom Logic app enables you to create a new enhancement implementation:
Fig. 15: Custom Logic app - Create new enhancement implementation
The example implementation provides the draft logic for the use case to prevent work center change for distributed orders.

Check out also the What' New Document in which you find further interesting BAdIs like Exclusion of Operations from Distribution to Specific Systems (BD_COBADICFL_ORDER_FLT_OP_INIT).
Resolve Internal Problems via 8-D methodology - Add comments
SAP S/4HANA Cloud enables continuous improvement through the standardized 8-D problem-solving process and its predefined process steps in Quality Management. The 8-D methodology supports quality engineers to identify, correct, and eliminate recurring problems. With the 2108 release, you can add comments to each step of a problem-solving process.
Fig. 17: Resolve Internal Problems app - Add comments to each step of the problem-solving process
As a quality engineer, you can now print quality notifications in the form of a PDF document. The printing of quality notifications is based on SAP S/4HANA Output Control. The next figure shows the Change Quality Notifications app. Open the Menu -> Extras and choose the option Notification Output for generating the PDF document. The system determines all relevant output types for this quality notification as defined in BRFplus Business Rules Engine. In addition, the figure shows the Output Parameter Determination app which enables an administrator to define when and how to issue an output. With the Output Parameter Determination app, you maintain output rules for the application object type Quality Notification.
Fig. 18: Print quality notifications in the form of a PDF document
With the new Record Inspection Results app, you can record and process results for characteristics for one or more inspection lots effectively. You can also use this app to create defects manually for different categories, such as, inspection lots, inspection operations, and characteristics. This app is the successor of the Record Inspection Results (Deprecated) app. The deprecated app (as of SAP
S/4HANA Cloud 2108) will be deleted from the SAP Fiori launchpad in an upcoming release.
Fig. 19: New SAP Fiori app Record Inspection Results
The new SAP Fiori app Record Inspection Results has an important advantage in comparison with the deprecated predecessor app: Now a quality technician can record defects manually within the new result recording app. You can record defects for an inspection lot, inspection operation or inspection characteristic.
Fig. 20: New SAP Fiori app Record Inspection Results - Create defects
Unfortunately the new Record Inspection Results app does not support attachment services yet. In case you need to attach a document, the Services for Object of the 'classic' apps can be used.
