This quarter again, the SAP S/4HANA Cloud update is coming with innovations across all lines of business. You will find information about new “intelligent” business processes leveraging machine learning, analytics and predictive capabilities, new process automation options, and more. The full collection is available here.

I’d like to start with a topic that accelerates the time to value: intelligent Robotic Process Automation, short IRPA. IRPA is a strategic area for SAP S/4HANA Cloud, and a technology that allows us to embed intelligence and automation in E2E processes in a scalable way.

IRPA use cases are available for SAP S/4HANA Cloud, you’ll find them in the Best Practice Explorer (BPX). You’ll find a new section called “SAP Best Practices for SAP Intelligent Robotic Process Automation integration with SAP S/4HANA”, where you can select best practices for the cloud or for on-premise.

Now let me talk about a few innovations in the core ERP processes, starting with Finance. The new app Revenue Planning with SAP Analytics Cloud is designed for sales controllers. Master data and transaction data from SAP S/4HANA Cloud can be loaded into SAP Analytics Cloud, and planning results can be written back into SAP S/4HANA Cloud. With this, controllers can derive and plan sales prices, simulate and plan sales quantities, plan deduction and derivations in percent and more. You will see a fast adoption of SAP Analytics Cloud in the coming release.

Let’s continue with another example of process automation: Bank Statement Reprocessing Rules, tailored for cash specialists. This app increases efficiency and quality, and reduces errors and of course costs. This allows you to automate user-based reprocessing of bank statement items, which enables you to spend more time on more important tasks. Cash application specialists can easily define reprocessing rules based on manual reprocessing activities and apply them to other bank statements to be reprocessed.

Our next example is in Manufacturing with the new Predictive Material and Resource Planning (short pMRP) that will increase the efficiency of production planners. The goal of pMRP is to identify potential capacity issues and to evaluate possible solutions as early as possible based on a simplified requirement plan using a simplified material requirements algorithm. The simulation helps production planners prepare themselves to take decisions on changed conditions, for example for requirement planning, resource plans, or make-or-buy decisions.

Let’s now move to a Supply Chain highlight in Inventory Management: “Overdue Stock In Transit”. This leverages with 1908 situation handling functionalities. This speeds up the resolution of issues for the inventory manager. You can use situation handling to bring important issues regarding overdue materials with a missing stock transport to the users' attention.

What is planned beyond SAP S/4HANA Cloud 1908?

With an ambitious roadmap, SAP wants to support all customers on their digital transformation and their way to the Intelligence Enterprise. We will provide automation for end-to-end processes connecting seamlessly SAP S/4HANA Cloud to other LoB solutions.

For instance, the “Hire to retire” process will run as an orchestration of best of breads: SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP S/4HANA Cloud, as well as SFSF Recruiting and Employee Central.
