To heed the call for accelerated innovation, speed and agility aligned to RISE with SAP, SAP Co-Innovation Lab (COIL), in cooperation with SAP Extension Suite product management and the SAP Solution Center teams, delivered a successful Hack2Build partner innovation event from the 13th – 20th of April, 2021. Focusing on S/4 HANA side-by-side Extensions in the cloud, 9 partners across 8 countries in the EMEA and MEE region participated in the event to deliver viable and innovative solutions that address real customer problems.

Hack2Build is an event series that takes the creativity and speed of a hackathon to the next level by creating a minimal viable solution offering in terms of an application, accelerator, or a solution package.  All participants brought dedication, enthusiasm, creativity and delivered compelling solutions in just 7 days.

The Participating Companies

#Hack2Build MEE/EMEA April 2021

9 SAP partner companies with 55 experts from eight countries spanning from Portugal over to Egypt and down to South Africa, participated in this #Hack2Build event: Aarini Consulting, AGILITA AG, Delaware Consulting, Dimension Data, IBsolution GmbH, minsait, brighten, Solex, Viseo

Many thanks to all the partner teams to embark on this intense 7-day journey to make their solution idea tangible.

The Winners

Team IBsolution ...

... emerged as the Winner with their sales collaboration prototype, not only extending S/4HANA Cloud but also integrating with Microsoft Teams. Congratulations to Andreas, Tilo, Sebastian, Nazar, Adrian, and Jonathan. We look forward to continue working with you to support you in fully developing your solution and to make it available to our customers.

The winning team of IBsolution! Congratulations!

The sales quote process can be a very a complex interaction, not least in the services business that IBsolution itself is in (which makes them themselves a clear first target customer). Their solution vision represented by the prototype delivered during the #Hack2Build is to provide a platform and framework as home for all participants in the sales quote process.

From the central Fiori app starting the process on a given sales quote, a Microsoft Sharepoint folder as well as a team on Microsoft Teams is automatically created inviting all participants on a given sales quote. A welcome message with information on the tasks ahead is provided. The way of collaborating on the sales quote thus is clear from the start. A truly great way of extending a core process.

IBsolution Sales Collaboration is an SAP CAP application integrating with SAP S/4HANA as well as SAP Sales Cloud, the former via ODATA as well as SAP Event Mesh, the latter using an IFlow on SAP Integration Suite. The additional key integration with the Microsoft solutions is done via REST and Microsoft Graph.

Team AGILITA ...

... followed as first runner-up delivering on their vision of a Mobile Medication Warehouse Solution. Congratulations to Thomas, Daniel, William, Steffen, Jan, and Bram. The foresight to supportmultiple possible backends and mobile device types as well as an excellent usage of BTP capabilities impressed the Jury, and our Swiss colleague Pascal Hagedorn can't wait to get engaged with you on the way forward.

AGILITA's Medical Warehouse solution prototype is a mobile app particularly supporting the management of medical stock, at the event and in these times using COVID test kits and vaccines as examples. The prototype nicely showed a put-away task, but it is already planned to expand to other tasks such as storage location transfer.

At the heart of the solution is an SAP CAP application that integrates with SAP S/4HANA and provides services to the native Android app via SAP Mobile Services. A configuration app (Fiori) to include multiple possible backends and mobile device types was already included in the prototype to allow for easy roll-out to different customer environments. Not only will SAP S/4 HANA, cloud or on-premise, be supported but it is also planned to allow for SAP Business by Design as well as old SAP ECC backends.

Team AGILITA stated that the Mobile SDK helped a lot with the development of the native app required to leverage the special devices available for the event that came with an integrated barcode scanner. The SDK will easily allow for moving to IOS too, as well as utilizing specialized devices leveraging standard device cameras.to leverage particular bar-code reader functionality of available devices.

Team Brighten (former Procensus) ...

... from Portugal: Last but definitely not least, our second runner-up! Their prototype of a Hospital Advanced Warehouse Kanban Replenishment App showed an almost complete functionality set. Congratulations to André, Ricardo, Tiago, Bruno, Filipe, and Pedro. Engaging with your team surely brightened up our day;-) Great kick-start of a mature solution idea, but this is only the beginning of our joint engagement. Stay tuned!

Brighten's solution is tackling the error prone and laborious task of stock replenishment in several hospitals services. The manual collection of replenisment requirements in hospitals mostly happens in paper form. The backoffice registration of these and a triggered MRP run leads to "virtual pick"  in the backoffice system. The actual pick then again is paper-based and disconnected from the backoffice system. This overall process has many points for data and stock inaccuracy. Team Brighten implemented a prototype for a mobile app for on-site picking and automatic sync with stock and replenishment processes in SAP S/4HANA thus resolving the stated issues.

The app is a native Android mobile app with middleware functionality running in a .NET-container on Cloud Foundry on SAP Business Technology Platform. The team expressed strong willingness to further expand the scope both in funtionality and usage of other SAP BTP services.
