If your business records transactions in multiple currencies you must be entering exchange rates of the relevant currencies on a regular basis. In SAP Business One each company can choose the display mode of the exchange rate in the Exchange Rate and Indexes window and in transactions - It’s either direct or indirect:
If you choose direct, the rate of a foreign currency is displayed as its value in local currency. The indirect display shows the value of the local currency in the units of the foreign currency.
Once the setting is done and a transaction is posted, you cannot change it.
