Running a Cloud ERP Product Success organization goes along with deep hands-on knowledge about the product and from customer projects. In each project, we learn and grow knowledge as individuals; by sharing this knowledge, we support learning as a community, make projects faster and smoother, and increase the quality of the result.

Creating the case for Cloud ERP is one aspect – in this new blog post series, we want to go deep: A close-up is a tightly framed image of a person or an object. It puts the object into the center and ignores the broader picture for the sake of focusing.

Welcome to Cloud ERP Close-Up, a series designed to share product highlights and project insights based on hands-on experience. The series complements many other information sources available and requires a certain set of pre-knowledge to digest it properly. In return, we are sure we can accelerate your understanding of the solution capabilities and give proper guidance on deployment decisions. Instead of going release per release, we are going function by function to address the domain experts.

As a consequence, we are not going to start soft. This month, we are kicking off the series with a close-up of the engineer to order (ETO) end-to-end scenario in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition.

With the latest SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition 2302 release, SAP introduced the first engineer to order end-to-end scenario “Engineer Products and Systems – Project with Production ” in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition. Let me walk you through some of the features that show the enormous potential of our solution for engineer-to-order-related manufacturing processes:

You can seamlessly manage production planning and execution on the level of work breakdown structure (WBS) elements while optimizing the product – specific procurement of components and long-lead raw materials. You may effortlessly fulfill sales order line-item demands on WBS elements to ensure accurate cost tracking.

Our customer sales project process simplifies the entire scenario. From order creation with integrated WBS elements to collecting costs for delivered products and services, every step is streamlined. The billing plan efficiently triggers invoices for sales orders, ensuring prompt payment from customers. Experience the convenience of automated customer account clearance upon receipt of payment making monetary management easier.

To enhance your operations further, we offer complementary aftermarket services, catering to additional needs you may have. Maximize the value of your project-based business with our comprehensive solution.

If you are eager to know more, here are all relevant assets:

You may see the whole end-to-end “Engineer Products and Systems – Project with Production System” demo in this blog post:

The next blog post provides an overview of the ETO process, showing both the process flow and the steps that result in journal entries in Finance:

Look at the key figures associated with an engineer to order project (revenue, costs, and now project stock) and understand how the journal entries behind these key figures are enriched to provide information about the market segments served, rather than waiting for settlement to move the revenues and costs from the project to margin analysis:

For a complete end-to-end demo for engineer to order in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition for product and service-centric processes, I recommend this SAP in-depth live session (before clicking on the link, please log in to SAP Learning Hub. I promised we wouldn't start soft. Some pre-knowledge is required, but the reference to the content section, published by our team, is designed to give the domain experts robust insights to build decisions upon.
