When you launch your SAP S/4HANA Cloud system for the first time, you may want to change your language settings. Previously, this used to be a bit tricky either by changing your browser language settings or by modifying the URL parameter sap-language. Please note that starting with the 2005 release of SAP S/4HANA Cloud there have been significant changes being introduced for the SAP Fiori Launchpad including SAP Fiori Spaces and Pages. In this blog post, we will see how to change your language settings individually and globally for all business users.

Changing the Language Settings (Individual)

  • Click on the Me Icon on the top right of your SAP Fiori Launchpad and select Settings

  • Navigate to the section Language & Region and select your preferred language

Changing the Language Settings (Global)

You might also need to set a global system language for all your business users in the system. In this case, you can follow this approach.

  • First, we need to disable the option that business users can change their language settings. Therefore, open the Manage Launchpad Settings app.

  • Select Edit to change the SAP Fiori Launchpad settings in your system.

  • Change the setting USERSETTINGS_SET_LANGUAGE to OFF

  • Next, we need to mass maintain the logon language for all business users. For that open the Maintain Business Users app.

  • Select all business users and then select the Mass Change option.

  • Select the following attributes

    • Area: User Data

    • Attributes: Language

  • Select the global language you would like to use, e.g. English United States and confirm your changes.

For other useful settings for your SAP Fiori Launchpad, you should check out the User Experience section in openSAP Microlearning.
