SAP Business ByDesign's built-in "org management" (OM) is the central component to determine responisbilities, accounting and reporting attributes, companies and other functional properties. For some companies, this structure can grow quite large. OM has almost no limits when used operational, but those maintaining this structure, should be aware of some best practices to avoid some waiting time when activating the changes.

  • The work center view Org List View provides the functionality Quick Edit". It allows to change an org unit's name, manager or address without need for activation. As this has been delivered recently, you might not have it assigned to the users maintaining the OM.
  • Having done some changes, don't select the top-most node and activate, and don't use Activate All when maintaining large org structures. Select a single company or the node you have changed and select Activate Selected and Dependent Org Units. This will activate only the nodes below the selected one.
  • In case your data volume to activate is still large, try Activate Selected and Dependent Org Units in Background. A background job will be started to activate the selected node and those below.
