As we are getting near the end of the year, it was great to be somewhere warm again, hello Barcelona!

So, against he backdrop of a Catalonian separation demonstration we are set to deliver another GoLive Experience to newly recruited Business ByDesign partners and their consultants.

Surprisingly though this group of GLX'ers were predominately Nordic, since this GLX was the culmination of their time at the SAP Sales Academy. There were of course some Spaniards, and together everyone was keen to learn how to implement a solution that they had been selling.

The week started well, with an introduction to the SAP Launch Methodology that is designed to specifically get ByDesign projects implemented on time and on budget (hopefully!) we summarised the 4 day agenda, and how we plan to condense a 12 week project into 4 days!

Day one ends with the creation and testing of the Organisational Structure within our production tenant. A great end to a largely day of theory, the next three days its all hands on configuration and migration.

Day two started a little differently as the conversation turned to ByDesign localisation topics. The answer to most localisation questions can be found here Nonetheless it is important for partners whose market are is pre-dominantly in country where SAP only provide pre-localised content.

Key points that were made included:

  • Pre-Localised still needs work from the partner

    • Developing Local Chart of Accounts

    • Local language translations

    • Form output templates

  • Payroll and Compensation is not included

  • Expense Management is

  • Time Recording is

towards the end of a GLX candidates are expected to present back to the group. this presentation is based on the configuration and data migration that has been carried out in their own functional area over the last few days. The presentation follows the test plans specifically designed for their area, and so the results must match!

As always I am pleasantly surprised by how well the teams collaborate with each other to ensure data is ready and accurate.

I think it is a great testament to them and the designers of ByD that these new users can be running quite complicated business scenarios in a web browser. #ByDRocks.

The final day needs some brain power, since all the candidates sit their final exam, we had a good pass rate too so the teaching must have been reasonably good. 🙂

I look forward to meeting all the candidates again when they start their first ByD project!

buena suerte,lykke til, lycka till

John
