The SAP S/4HANA 2023 release closes the modernization of selected compatibility scope items for Project System (PS) as well as for Portfolio and Project Management (PPM). This blog aims to give an overview of the modernized compatibility scope items as well as explain which features will remain in the compatibility scope.
More general information about the Enterprise Portfolio and Project Management (EPPM) compatibility scope is shared in this SAP Community Call. Details on features that stay in compatibility scope are available in the blog “Compatibility Scope: What Happens after 2025/2030”. While this blog only focusses on EPPM and reflects the status as of today, SAP note 2269324 contains the most up-to-date information on compatibility scope across all application areas.
Compatibility scope items with modernized capabilities
The following compatibility scope items have been modernized as part of SAP S/4HANA. These modernizations can be different types of SAP S/4HANA specific capabilities, e.g. a new Fiori app, performance improvements by leveraging HANA capabilities, integration to features that are only available with SAP S/4HANA etc.. The modernized feature in compatibility scope becomes part of the perpetual scope with the specific release in which the modernization was added. This means, in order to use the feature as part of the perpetual scope, you need to upgrade to the release in which the modernization was delivered (or higher) before the expiration of the compatibility scope license.
Integration to Portfolio and Project Management (Note 2268020)
