hi all, i had a query. I have a scenario of transportation services with some key points in mind.
1. A contract exists between customers and service providers which lasts for many years.
2. Orders are created w.r.t. the contract over a period of time.
3. Billing is done in CRM and the order is transferred to ECC for delivery.
Now for the CRM part, is it a good idea to have a sales order and contracts or service order & contracts?? thanks in advance
Hi,
Any ways you have to go for service order as you are selling a service and not a product.
Within service order you can have your products and billing utility.
First of all, is your transport service billing based on the hourly service you provide to you customer, or its based on volume + Distance you need to travel.
If it is some hourly service, and volume + Distance doesn't matters then go for service order then your product is type of transportation and quantity is hours of tranansport.
If it is volume + Distance then your product could be type of transaportation and quantity is volume and distance and hence some enhancement is required..
Or even you can have jst volume and based on storage location address (Plant) and ship to party address distance can be derived to conclude the pricing..

I guess if the product is a tangible one, you may go for sales order else go for service order.
