Protect REST Services with client ssl certificate

Hi, we considered using client ssl certificates instead of user/password credentials to avoid saving plain passwords in shell scripts. (we trigger jobs via rest) Besides proxying the requests with apache or somethin I wondered if there is a hybris way to authenticate rest users via client ssl certificate? Thanks in advance, Alexander

Hi Alexander,

Have you found a solution for using client SSL certificated instead of basic auth for REST calls?

Hi,

First question would be to check that the SSL traffic is not terminated at load balancer. If it is, then you can't do that, or load balancer then takes care of authenticating client, and passes the authenticated client ID (CN?) to the backend systems (Hybris) via headers.

If load balancer is configured to pass all the SSL traffic, then you're good to continue with tutorials that you can find via google.
