IDES installation

Dear experts,

My boss just came by and asked me to install a IDES environment. After what I could find its a environment for testing SAP modules.

But my question is, is it a instance you install and then you can testrun ex CRM or SRM and after testing you can reset it and maybe try out a HR solution?

What does IDES require hardware wise? And where can I find the installation? If anyone has usefull links (I couldnt find any, but I might have been looking wrong places) about IDES it would be awesome

You should be able to install the IDES for all the SAP technology. You can install and re-install ides as many times as you can.

You need to install the specific IDES version related to your technology (ie ECC, SRM, CRM etc) to perform your tests.

All the installation guides are available under service.sap.com/instguides, expand your technology to browse the installation guides.

I can see there is several IDES Solutions to choose from, ex

IDES SEM-BW

IDES IS

IDES EA

etc - is there somewhere to read about the different systems? I couldnt find anywhere with definitions of the different solutions.

My company is in the green energy sector, which one should I choose? Were running ECC 6.0 in our SAP environment, if that has something to say when choosing IDES.

Then you need to select IDES for ECC, if you want to implement/configure other modules. Any idea what are the modules are configure in your company (FI, CO, MM, PS, QA etc)

If you compnay planning to implement another SAP technology then you may need to try for other IDES application.

Sorry for the long response time - have been undergoing some issues at work.

If I, lets say, want to install CRM IDES for testing / evaluating, how do I do that? I only see these links under "Installations and Uprgades":

isnt there a "main" IDES where I can install most modules (f.ex HR, CRM, SRM etc) or do I have to install one IDES for each module?

Hi...

do you know what products of SAP you use in the company you work?

SAP ECC6 includes all core modules (FI,SD,MM etc..)

What exactly is your target?

Does noone have anything to elaborate on this matter? I havent been able to find anything specifik on the Ides environment. if anyone has some suggestions it will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Experts,

I found this note 1013391 - IDES ERP 2005 ECC 6.0 SR2. Would this one be the one i would want to install to be able to test alle modules, or would it be preferrable to install the IDES CRM if you want to test CRM, and IDES APO if you want to test APO etc. What I would prefer was to be able to install 1 IDES and test XXX component on the same installation. However, I am unsure if this is possible.

If someone could point me to another note (if this isnt the most recent one) it would be greatly appreciated.
