Functionality of the segment builder

The segment builder has two big buttons just above the attribut list, one of those buttons are:

1. "AND WITHIN AN ATTRIBUTE/OR WITHIN AN ATTRIBUTE"

I found out that when you click on those, they change their the "AND" for an "OR" and viceversa...

Do these buttons have any functionality?

Hello Nuno,

I guess that you are using CRM 5.0 where this feature has been introduced. If you set it to AND the attribute you drag & drop from the filters will be concatenated with the existing filter by a logical AND. If you switch to or it will be concatenated with OR.

Gregor, thank you very much for your response...

I still have one more question... If with this functionality I can specify if my attributs will be concatenated as "and" or "or".... Why do I need the function "Merge" or "Split"?

When using the buttons mentioned before, it is not so clear to visualise under which premise the attributes are being concancatenated.

I also have one more question...what is the difference between a profile that has not been built and one that has. For example, I know that one can assign to a campaign a profile that has not been built.

Best regards,

Nuno

Hi Nuno, The current sement builder only really support "and" logic within the segment builder and the only way to do "OR" logic is multiple profiles in a profile set which is cumbersome. The new functionality makes it a great deal easier for end users.

Merge is a great function allowing you to "Merge" two profiles or Target groups together that were potentially created in another profile set.

Split allow you to view distribution with both an "and" logic and an "Not" logic in the same hit.

Hope this helps.

Hi Nuno,

a usefull business case for split & merge could be that you build up a large target group, use split to divide it for example to all Employees responsible so they can refine their target group, after they are done you can merge an then run the campaign.
