Field History

Hi,

Field history, which is set up via CTRL+F12, options, local data, history, is causing a bit of a headache.

As you know, this stores the last n entries you make in a field. This is all well and good but it is causing an issue in the order processing area when someone pays by credit card.

Basically, the data entry person starts to type the credit card number and then, accidently, chooses and old one from the history list.

I could turn off field history but this is global and we would lose the benefit for the sake of one field.

Does anyone know if it is possible to stop the history on one field ?

Cheers

James

Hi James,

ok, i got it.

in that you have option to switch off the history .

ALT+F12->click on options->choose local data Tab->in History Subscreen choose radio button OFF

and also use clear History.

set the expire time also,.

Hi Vijay,

Thanks again but as I said in my question, doing this will turn it off for every field. I just want to be able to stop history on one field.

The benefits from a data entry point of view outweigh the problem caused by one field. Therefore, history will not be globally swithced off.

Hi,

what is that field(Data dictionary field) , and check is there any parameter id for that field. may be you need to do some thing with that..

do you know how to find it?

go to that filed, and press F1 on that , it will show the popup with parameter id.

may be that is causing problem.

Hi Vijay,

It's not the PID. This would only affect the last entry. The problem I have is field history.

If you go to a field and press space, you'll get a list of the last 10 - 20 entries you made in that field (if history is switched on)
