SAP Marketing Cloud: Usage of Marketing Events without integration

Hi all,

our current customer wants to use Marketing Events but without any integration (just manual imports) as it would provide a benefit for them in handling and visualizing these events.

I tested that and could successfully import Marketing Events via Data File Load but failed to upload the Marketing Event Participants. There I get the error messages in Import Monitor for each participant that the Events are not found in database:

Is it possible to use this feature like this and if yes is there a best practise how to avoid these errors.

Marketing Events data can be uploaded through data file load app independent of the integration iFlows.

First the Event file has to be uploaded. After successful creation of events, the participant file can be uploaded along with the correct event reference.

Try to use the sample download file to avoid errors during upload.

Thank you! I did exactly that (at least in my understanding), but it always produced the errors above.

Nevertheless after recreating the Upload Files from scratch and based on the templates, it works now as described by you.

Hi Aaron,

To upload marketing event participants, please

• Ensure that the event provided in column MKTGEVENTEXTERNALID (Marketing Events: External ID) is valid.

• Ensure that the CONTACTORIGIN (Origin of Interaction Contact Data) value is valid for every participant. For a participant, which is to be reflected on the Events screen, ensure that the MKTGEVENTPROVIDER (Marketing Event Provider) of the corresponding event matches with the CONTACTORIGIN (Origin of Interaction Contact Data) of the participant.
