SAP Marketing Cloud - Custom field default value

Hi experts,

I create a custom field in SAP Marketing Cloud of type checkbox.

But we have an issue because when a contact arrives in Marketing Cloud, the default value is automatically set to "yes". However, we need it to be "No" (unchecked) by default.

Any idea how to solve this?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Kind regards,

Alicia

Hello aldlu ,

Did you solve this or raise an incident to SAP support? We just added a custom field of type checkbox and noticed similar behaviour.

Even though we send no value or send a space for the checkbox value from CPI, it seems that the checkbox is set to 'X'!

This has definitely not been working like this before so I'm assuming this is a bug and will create an incident for this issue.

We've noticed that this has now messed up existing contacts who have "false" in C4C, but is now showing "X" in Marketing Cloud. Just great.

Hello Markus,

Sorry for the late answer.
No, this point is not solved on our side unfortunately. We set the Checkbox by default to "No" in CPI (integration between hubspot and MC). But for the contacts that already received the "Yes" value, we are now unable to uncheck it. It always takes back the "Yes" value...

We didn't raise an incident to SAP for the moment but will probably do.

If you have any information on your side, it is more than welcome!

Thanks in advance,

Kr,

Alicia

Hi Alicia,

what is the source system? Where/how is the contact created in SAP Marketing Cloud?

Hi Tobias,

The contacts are coming from Hubspotv, via CPI.

However, the field is not included in the integration scenario. This should be manually maintained in C4M after the contact's creation.

A solution I though about is to include the field in the integration scenario and set a fixed value to "No" when the contact is created. Could it solve the issue? Is there any other easier solution?

Thanks!

Hi aldlu ,

okay. Then yes, I would go the way you already said and set the value on CPI.

Another approach could be to use the BAdI "Update interaction contact (Best Record)" to update the Contact after its creation within SAP Marketing Cloud.

Hi Tobias,

Ok, so it also means that by default a custom checkbox in Marketing Cloud is set to "True" (checked)?

Hi aldlu,

I think yes (not 100% sure because we always set the values as needed on CPI), but let me verify this on our system 🙂

Hi aldlu,

did you also try what happens if you create a contact manually within SAP Marketing Cloud.

I tried it but for those contacts the value is set to "No" by default.
