Yes you can have products in Interaction and use them on campaigns like Abandon cart Interactions or Product viewed Interactions but those products should be in Marketing system before hand .
I just want to add, business users are the one who will upload this information so we are planning to use the Data File Load functionality. When I checked the Interactions upload template, it does not contain a field for products.
