Facebook Custom Audience. Marketing Permission

Hello, experts!

I already set up the App in Facebook Developers account and the Communication Arrangement in Marketing Cloud in order to connect both systems.

I took the article from the SAP Blog as a basis, here is the link:

https://blogs.sap.com/2019/03/15/sap-marketing-cloud-how-to-create-a-facebook-app-for-campaign-and-c...

Now I want to transfer the audience to get the campaign stats that I need to validate the app.

I have read the documentation and understand that I can use the Facebook app to transfer the audience and track the success of the campaign.

But I'm concerned about the "marketing permissions" part.

In the Facebook Custom Audiences article, in the disclaimer said that it is the owner's responsibility to verify the permission of the audience to who they are sending to. Here is the link:

https://developers.facebook.com/docs/marketing-api/audiences/guides/custom-audiences?locale=en_US

I`ve not found any information on how the ban on communication is implemented.

Please tell me, should this be a separately implemented functionality, for example, a link in a Facebook message by clicking on which the memeber can take away access to communication or does Facebook automatically send this information to the SAP MKT?

Kind regards, Artem

Hi Artem,

May I refer you to our online documentation about Facebook and permissions:

Facebook Campaigns | SAP Help Portal

Facebook Custom Audiences | SAP Help Portal

Permissions and Subscriptions | SAP Help Portal

As mentioned in the documentation "Facebook also requires a check for marketing permissions when using their custom audiences. By default, a user in Facebook has given their implicit permission to be shown ads. This means that their information can be transferred to a custom audience. If a user doesn't want ads to be shown to them, they must explicitly state so. Their user then cannot be used in campaigns created either for Facebook custom audiences or third parties and will be removed from the custom audience by the system."

You therefore need to gather their explicit opt-out. You can also change the default customizing to set opt-out per default and get their explicit opt-in. You have to decide based on the regulation in each country in that regard.

For more information on permission customizing, see Define Marketing Permission Check | SAP Help Portal.

Best Regards
