Default for pay-out as gift card instead of cash

In SAP Customer Checkout our customer wants to change default value for

Payment mode: Gift Card
Field : Cash

Current Default value is the currency
Desired Default value is "giftcard"

How to reproduce :
Sell a giftcard for 50$.
Then sell an article at 20$ and pay that article with the gift card
30 other $ is filled automatically in field cash of gift card payment window
In field cash, default value is currency "$"
Instead we want it to be "gift card"

Is it possible?

This is had already been requested in the influence portal. See idea https://influence.sap.com/sap/ino/#/idea/254765.

Decision was that it is not part of our current development backlog.

You may however achieve this with a plug-in development.
