Change of Landing Page domain in Marketing Cloud: No Redirection in old campaigns?

Hello community,

We have a question regarding the change of the content repository domain in MC.

After changing this domain our newly published Landingpages get the new domain in URL. This works as expected. Our old Landingpage Domain is additionally still active in CDNetworks, so also the accesses to the old Landingpages with old Domain work without any problems.

In MC we have campaigns that were created (NOT SENT YET) before the domain change and that consist of old Landingpages. When unpublishing and republishing these Landingpages now, the Landingpages of course also receive the new domain.
But we KEEP the “old” LP URLs within the mails. Sending out these campaigns NOW and clicking on these old LP URLs within the mail as recipient, this successfully will lead to the new domain.

But what is the expected behavior of the MC for mails that were not only created but also sent out before the domain change?
Scenario: Campaign that consists of a landing page is sent. Landingpage is unpublished and  republished and receives new domain. If a recipient now clicks on this Landingpage within the “old” mail, he/she will be directed to the old domain. There is no forwarding from the old to the new domain in these cases. Is this the intended behavior of the MC?
For old campaigns, will the URLs be redirected to the new URL after some time? Currently, it seems like still the old URL opens up even after the LP is unpublished and republished again when the LP link is reached from a campaign previously sent.

Thanks for your support and kind regards
Sören

Dear Sören,

if you publish a new Landing Page you will get a for the last two years a new domain. This URL shall be used in mail campaigns. If you unpublish your existing Landing Page and publish it again the domain changes also. Currently the old URL is working but we strongly recommend to use the new domain as the old one  leads to a deprecated technology.
