We would like to do a system copy of C4C system that is integrated with SAP Marketing Cloud. Therefore we also have to "clean" SAP Marketing Cloud before replicating the data again. In the past - when only working with Interaction Contacts - we deleted all the data of Q tenant (interactions, contacts,...) via application jobs. Now we also want to delete Business Partner.
In order to do this, we must first archive the business partners in the "Block Master Data - Business Partner"-App.
When we do this, we get the error message: "ILM policy does not exist for business partner".
So we go to the App "ILM Policies" where we get stuck.
So I come to my questions:
- Which Audit Area is the correct one?
- Which Fields we have to select?
- What are Best Practices for the Rules for our use case?
Has anyone ever deleted Business Partner in Marketing Cloud and can help us with this?
Thanks in advance!
Katharina

Hi Katharina,
Hi Tobias,
afaik there is no standard procedure for a system copy in SMC, so I am not sure what you are planning in detail.
Can you explain in more detail?
best regards

Hi Andreas,
sure 🙂
As you already mentioned there's no standard procedure for a system copy in SMC (like there is one e.g. in C4C). For customers, it's very common to do system copies from P to Q from time to time.
So, if the customer does a system copy of C4C, I assume it will lead to issues if the "new" data from C4C is replicated to SAP Marketing Cloud.
Because of that we would like to "clean" the SAP Marketing Cloud Q system before.
In the past it was easy because we only had to delete Interactions and interaction contacts via application jobs. After that, the new C4C data was replicated to SMC and new interaction contacts have been created with origin SAP_C4C_BUPA and their corresponding C4C IDs.
But since using SOA-based integration, there are Business Partners generated in SAP Marketing Cloud. So, if we would proceed like in the past and only delete interaction contacts and interactions, the Business Partners will remain in SAP Marketing Cloud.
We don't know what will happen if we replicate data from C4C (think there's a new key mapping, too) if we did not delete the Business Partners in SMC before (in addition to the redundant data on the database).
Hope I was able to clarify it a little bit.
BR Tobias
Dear Katharina,
deleting Business Partners does not work productively. Why do want to get rid of them and load them again?

Hi Andreas,
as Katharina described, we would like to do a system copy of the system landscape from P to Q (S/4, FSM, C4C, SMC). In the landscape, C4C is integrated with SAP Marketing Cloud. Since we are working with Business Partners (SOA-based integration) instead of only having interaction contacts, we need to delete them before replicating the data from C4C to MC again.

As Saravana described, it's necessary to archive and block the Business Partners before they can be deleted.
